Core Responsibilities
- Academic &
- Instruction
- Classroom Teaching: Deliver lectures on medical jurisprudence, forensic pathology, and clinical toxicology to undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate students.
- Practical Training: Conduct practical sessions on age estimation, skeletal remains examination, and the identification of weapons or poisons.
- Ethics &
- Law: Instruct students on medical ethics, the Consumer Protection Act, and the legal duties of a physician.
- Medico-Legal &
- Clinical Duties
- Autopsy Supervision: Conduct and supervise medico-legal autopsies to determine the cause, manner, and time of death.
- Clinical Forensics: Examine victims of physical assault, sexual offenses, and cases involving age determination for legal purposes.
- Court Testimony: Appear as an expert witness in courts of law to provide evidence based on forensic findings.
- Toxicology Management: Oversee the management of acute poisoning cases and provide expert opinion on toxicological reports.
- Research &
- Administration
- Scholarly Research: Conduct original research in areas such as DNA profiling, forensic ballistics, or digital forensics.
- Journal Publication: Publish findings in indexed forensic science and medical journals.
- Departmental Support: Assist in maintaining the departmental museum, morgue facilities, and forensic laboratory standards.
Required Qualifications
Criteria
Specification
Academic Degree
MD in Forensic Medicine
(or equivalent DNB) from a recognized medical institution.
Registration
Must be registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or relevant State Medical Council.
Experience
Typically requires
3 years of teaching experience as a Senior Resident or Tutor in a recognized medical college.
Publications
Proven track record of research publications in peer-reviewed, indexed journals as per regulatory norms.
