Position Title: Logistics Manager - Project Cargo & ODC Operations

Department: Supply Chain / Projects

Experience Required: 8-12 Years (Project Experience required)

Location: Karnataka

Reporting To: DH-Materials

Role Purpose To manage and coordinate the end-to-end movement of project cargo, including 20ft/40ft containers, High Cube containers, ODC (Over Dimensional Cargo), heavy-lift equipment, and imported/domestic materials. Responsible for ensuring on-time delivery, real-time cargo tracking, stakeholder coordination, and achieving zero detention, demurrage, and avoidable logistics penalties.

Key Responsibilities

Cargo Movement & Transportation Management

- Plan and execute transportation of:
- 20ft Containers
- 40ft Containers

- High Cube Containers

- Break Bulk Cargo

- ODC (Over Dimensional Cargo)

- Heavy Lift Project Cargo
- Coordinate multimodal transportation involving road, rail, sea, and air freight.
- Ensure timely movement of project materials from supplier to project site.

Cargo Tracking & Monitoring

- Establish robust tracking systems for all inbound and outbound cargo.
- Monitor shipment milestones and update project stakeholders on cargo status.
- Prepare daily/weekly logistics tracking reports.
- Identify potential delays and proactively implement corrective actions.

Coordination with Stakeholders

- Liaise with:

- Customs House Agents (CHA)

- Shipping Lines

- Freight Forwarders

- Transporters

- Suppliers/Shippers

- Project Team

- Purchasers/Procurement Team

- Site Execution Team
- Ensure smooth documentation and uninterrupted cargo movement.

Import & Export Logistics

- Coordinate customs clearance activities.

- Review shipping documents

- Bill of Lading

- Commercial Invoice

- Packing List





- Certificate of Origin

- Insurance Documents
- Ensure compliance with statutory and customs regulations.

ODC & Heavy Lift Operations

- Plan route surveys for ODC movement.
- Obtain transport permits and statutory approvals.
- Coordinate escorts, cranes, trailers, and unloading arrangements.
- Ensure protected transportation of oversized and critical equipment.

Cost & Performance Management wherever required

- Optimize logistics costs without impacting project schedules.

- Control

- Detention Charges

- Demurrage Charges

- Ground Rent

- Port Storage Charges
- Negotiate rates with transporters and logistics service providers.
- Monitor logistics budget and freight spend.

Risk Management

- Develop contingency plans for transportation delays.
- Monitor weather, port congestion, and permit-related risks.
- Ensure cargo insurance coverage and claim management when required.
