Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with strong construction accounting and Work in Progress (WIP) accounting experience to support an HVAC, MEP, construction, and home services business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of WIP, job costing, accrued costs, revenue recognition, and borrowing base requirements. Hands-on experience with ServiceTitan and QuickBooks is highly preferred, as ServiceTitan will serve as the primary source of truth for Accounts Receivable, with information batched into QuickBooks.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage accounting activities related to construction, HVAC, MEP, and home service projects.
- Prepare and maintain accurate Work in Progress (WIP) schedules and accounting.
- Monitor project costs, billings, revenue, and profitability through the project lifecycle.
- Ensure costs and revenues are properly accrued and recognized in the appropriate accounting periods.
- Analyze completed work, incurred costs, billings, and unbilled amounts to ensure accurate WIP reporting.
- Support borrowing base calculations by ensuring WIP and related accounts are accurately recorded and supported.
- Perform job costing and analyze project-level financial performance.
- Reconcile ServiceTitan and QuickBooks, ensuring accurate transfer and recording of Accounts Receivable and related transactions.
- Use ServiceTitan as the primary source of truth for Accounts Receivable and validate accounting records after batching into QuickBooks.
- Perform month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and WIP adjustments.
- Identify discrepancies between operational and accounting records and resolve them promptly.
- Prepare financial reports and analysis related to projects, WIP, Accounts Receivable, and overall business performance.




- Work closely with operations and management to understand project status and ensure accounting accurately reflects work performed.

Must-Have Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, HVAC, MEP, home services, or a similar project-based business.
- Strong hands-on experience with WIP (Work in Progress) accounting.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting and job costing.
- Experience with accrual accounting and revenue recognition related to projects/WIP.
- Understanding of borrowing base requirements and WIP-related calculations.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceTitan is strongly preferred.
- Robust experience with QuickBooks.
- Experience reconciling operational systems with accounting systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand project costs, billings, WIP, and profitability.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in HVAC, MEP, construction services, home services, or contracting.
- Experience working with ServiceTitan → QuickBooks workflows.
- Experience supporting lender reporting or borrowing base reporting.
- CPA or other relevant accounting qualification is a plus.
- Experience working directly with business owners, operations teams, or management.
