At The Sleep Company, we are building a technology-driven omnichannel retail business that powers seamless customer experiences across D2C, marketplaces, retail stores, supply chain, fulfillment, and post-purchase journeys. As we continue to scale rapidly, we are looking for an execution-focused Senior Engineering Manager who can lead high-impact engineering teams, drive operational excellence, and build reliable, scalable systems that support our retail and supply chain ecosystem.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Senior Engineering Manager with strong experience in retail-tech, omnichannel commerce, logistics, or supply chain-driven environments. This role requires a leader who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous settings and can balance strategic thinking with deep technical involvement.

You will lead multiple engineering pods responsible for business-critical platforms such as Order Management Systems (OMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), POS integrations, ERP integrations, inventory management, fulfillment workflows, and customer-facing commerce experiences.

The ideal candidate is execution-oriented, highly accountable, technically solid, and passionate about building reliable systems that directly impact business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

- Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams/pods across commerce, supply chain, and platform domains.
- Drive end-to-end execution of strategic initiatives from concept to production.
- Ensure predictable delivery while maintaining high engineering quality standards.
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.




- Collaborate with Product, Operations, Supply Chain, Retail, Customer Experience, and Business teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Retail & Supply Chain Platform Ownership

- Drive development and evolution of OMS, WMS, ERP, POS, inventory, fulfillment, and logistics integrations.
- Enable seamless omnichannel customer experiences across D2C, retail stores, marketplaces, and partner ecosystems.
- Design solutions for inventory visibility, order orchestration, returns management, fulfillment optimization, and supply chain automation.
- Partner with business stakeholders to improve operational efficiency through technology.

Technical Excellence

- Provide technical leadership on distributed systems, event-driven architectures, integrations, APIs, and asynchronous processing.
- Drive system scalability, reliability, performance, and observability initiatives.
- Establish engineering best practices around architecture reviews, code quality, testing, deployment, and incident management.
- Guide teams in making sound technical decisions while balancing speed and long-term maintainability.

Operational Excellence & Reliability

- Own production health, service reliability, and operational readiness.
- Lead major incident response, root cause analysis,



and post-incident improvements.
- Define and track SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and operational KPIs.
- Build strong monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability frameworks.
- Drive proactive reliability and resilience initiatives across critical systems.

Stakeholder Management

- Partner closely with leadership, product managers, operations teams, and external vendors.
- Align engineering roadmaps with business priorities and organizational goals.
- Communicate technical and delivery status effectively to senior stakeholders.
- Manage dependencies across multiple teams and functions.

Required Qualifications

- 8–12 years of software engineering experience with 3–5 years leading engineering teams.
- Proven experience managing multiple engineering pods or teams.
- Strong background in retail-tech, e-commerce, omnichannel commerce, logistics, supply chain, or marketplace ecosystems.
- Experience working with OMS, WMS, ERP, POS, inventory management, fulfillment, or logistics platforms.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, integrations, messaging systems, and asynchronous workflows.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures and modern engineering practices.
- Strong understanding of production operations, reliability engineering, observability, and incident management.
- Demonstrated ability to drive execution in high-growth, rapidly changing environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
