Job Description – Early Years Teacher (IB)
Position: Early Years Teacher
Experience: 2–5 years of relevant teaching experience in Early Years; IB/PYP experience preferred
Qualification: Bachelor's/Master's degree with B.Ed./Early Childhood Education/Montessori/ECCE qualification preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver inquiry-based, play-based, and concept-driven learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP framework.
- Create a secure, inclusive, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment that supports the holistic development of young learners.
- Develop engaging learning experiences that promote communication, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and independence.
- Integrate the IB Learner Profile attributes and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills into everyday classroom experiences.
- Facilitate student-led exploration and encourage children to ask questions, investigate, reflect, and make meaningful connections.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate learning engagements across different developmental and learning needs.
- Observe, document, and assess student learning through formative and authentic assessment practices.
- Maintain learning documentation, portfolios, student records, and other required academic documentation.
- Differentiate learning experiences to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, PYP coordinators, specialists, and support staff for effective curriculum planning and implementation.
- Establish positive and respectful relationships with students and promote social-emotional wellbeing.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, development, and classroom experiences.
- Participate actively in school events, assemblies, celebrations, professional development, and community initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and review of PYP units of inquiry and transdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Promote international-mindedness, respect for diversity, and a learner-centred classroom culture.
- Ensure adherence to school policies, child safeguarding practices, and IB standards and practices.
