Purpose of Role
The Visuals Editor is responsible for all aspects of visual content across AD channels. They are responsible for photo research, and should have excellent editorial judgment and a strong ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once. Broad knowledge of industry professionals and connections is a must, i.e. strong relationships with agencies, photographers, stylists, studios, etc.
The position will help source non-commissioned photography images for Condé Nast global print and digital brands to select compelling visuals for content.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Responsible for the visual quality of AD content across all channels.
Schedule, coordinate, and produce photo and video shoots, including visual direction and editorial inputs, where applicable.
Manage budgets for all photo and video shoots, including negotiating prices with external vendors to manage expenses, and partnering with the operations team to maintain consistency in cost management.
Provide editorial and creative support for publishing across all platforms, both internal- and external-facing. Play a key role in planning, commissioning, and monitoring the quality of imagery in line with global Condé Nast standards for print and digital brands; align production quality with editors and designers; and sign off on projects.
Oversee contracts,
photo fees, and usage rights with the branded content team and Condé Nast legal department; send out call sheets and process invoices in a timely manner for non-commissioned photos.
Responsible for the visual quality of the AD website, including securing required assets for web crops, web clips, and YouTube videos.
Responsible for all credits on all images, both sourced and shot.
Commission and coordinate visual content creation for editorial and non-editorial IPs, including commissioning graphic designers and coordinating content- and contract-related work with them.
Conduct photo research requests using non-commissioned images from stock, photographers, archives, museums/galleries, press outlets, and Condé Nast Archives. This may involve researching and purchasing photography for all sections of the magazine and brand-related content.
Coordinate with other AD markets and teams to syndicate visual material and coordinate shoots, where applicable.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Knowledge of photography, archival images, historical images, fine art sources.
Highly organized, excellent written communication skills, contribute to editorial decisions and develop visual stories
Ability to creatively translate the needs of the brands and client into high quality output through a detailed understanding of the requirements of the platforms.
Solid negotiation, budget management skills and proficiency in Google Docs and sheets
Must be comfortable working across different time zones and relocate to Mumbai, if required
