ROLE SUMMARY

The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales and business growth across the assigned territory. The role will lead distributor development, retail expansion across General Trade and Modern Trade, sales team performance, trade execution, collections, and territory development while ensuring strong market coverage and brand visibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sales & Territory Management

- Achieve monthly and annual sales targets across the assigned territory
- Drive primary and secondary sales while ensuring healthy stock movement and adherence to inventory norms.
- Develop territory plans to expand market coverage and maximize business opportunities.

2. Distribution & Market Expansion

- Appoint, develop, and manage distributors to ensure profitable and sustainable business growth.
- Expand retail coverage across General Trade (GT) and Modern Trade (MT).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retailers, distributors, and trade partners.

Team Leadership & Execution

- Lead, coach, and monitor Sales Officers / Sales Representatives to improve productivity and market execution.
- Drive effective execution of trade marketing activities, promotional campaigns, and new product launches.
- Ensure high standards of market execution, product availability, and brand visibility across the territory.

4. Business Monitoring & Reporting

- Monitor competitor activities, market trends, pricing, and customer feedback and provide actionable insights.
- Ensure timely collections, credit control, claim settlement, and adherence to company sales policies.
- Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and territory development plans for management review.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

- Graduate degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in sales and territory management; experience in FMCG, beauty, or personal care is preferred.
- Solid distributor, retailer, and channel management skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate field sales teams.
- Strong communication, negotiation, relationship management, and analytical skills.
- Target-oriented, commercially driven, and comfortable working in a field-based environment.
