We’re looking for an experienced and client-facing Head of Medical Coding to join our team

n

in Bangalore to head the entire medical coding team , ensure compliance and drive

n

excellence across complex medical specialties. This leadership role requires deep Subject

n

Matter Expertise (SME) in coding, strong team coaching and mentoring , and the ability to

n

confidently engage with clients, auditors and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

n

n
- Leadership & Oversight : Lead, mentor and manage the coding team, ensuring accuracy, productivity and adherence to compliance standards.
n
- Client Engagement : Act as the primary point of contact for coding-related client calls, audits and reviews; present coding strategies and outcomes with clarity and professionalism. Take ownership of onboarding new clients and integrating them into coding workflows smoothly and efficiently.
n
- Strategic Collaboration : Work cross-functionally with operations, product,



QA and compliance teams to align coding workflows with company goals and technology enhancements.
n
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure that all coding practices are up-to-date with the latest CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and payer-specific requirements.
n
- Training & Development : Oversee ongoing training programs to keep the team current with regulatory and procedural updates.
n
- Reporting : Provide detailed reporting on coding accuracy, productivity metrics and audit outcomes to leadership and clients.

Required qualifications:

n

n
- Certification : CPC, CCS or equivalent (AAPC or AHIMA) – Required. CRC or CPMA is a plus.
n
- Experience : 12+ years in medical coding, including at least 5 years in a leadership role; strong exposure to surgery and multispecialty coding is preferred.
n
- Client-Facing Skills : Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills; experience handling US-based clients is highly desirable.
n
- Domain Expertise : Deep knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and payer guidelines.
n
- Team Management : Proven ability to manage, mentor, and grow high-performing coding teams.
n
- Analytical Thinking : Ability to resolve complex coding issues, analyze trends, and optimize workflows.
