Position: Professor – Horticulture

What We're Looking For

We are seeking an accomplished and dynamic academician with strong expertise in Horticulture who can contribute to teaching, research, innovation, extension, and academic leadership.

The ideal candidate should possess:

- Ph.D. in Horticulture, preferably with B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Agriculture/Horticulture from reputed institutions, with a consistently strong academic record.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in teaching, research, administration, and extension activities in a University/academic or research institution.
- A strong and consistent research and publication profile, including quality peer-reviewed research papers, books, book chapters,



and other scholarly contributions.
- Demonstrated contribution towards innovation, patents, novel technologies, technology transfer, or field-level interventions will be an added advantage.
- Proven experience in handling intramural/extramural funded research projects, preferably as Principal Investigator/Project Investigator.
- Expertise in one or more areas such as commercial fruit, vegetable and flower cultivation; protected/hi-tech horticulture; post-harvest management; precision horticulture/agriculture; nursery management; or emerging horticultural technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in guiding and mentoring M.Sc./Ph.D. scholars and developing research capacity.
- Evidence of academic recognition through awards, honours, fellowships, skilled memberships, leadership positions, or significant contributions to the academic/scientific community.
- Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills with the ability to contribute to the University's academic and institutional development.

What You'll Do

The selected candidate will be expected to:

- Lead and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Horticulture.
- Develop, mentor, and lead research programmes, funded projects, publications, and collaborative research initiatives.
- Guide and supervise M.Sc.



and Ph.D. scholars and strengthen the research culture of the department.
- Promote innovation, patents, technology development, consultancy, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer in the field of Horticulture.
- Contribute to extension activities, farmer outreach, industry engagement, community development, and field-level interventions.
- Develop collaborations with universities, research institutions, government agencies, industries, professional bodies, and international academic/research organisations.
- Contribute to curriculum development, academic planning, programme development, examination, evaluation, and quality enhancement.
- Provide academic and administrative leadership for departmental growth and institutional development.
- Support student internships, placement initiatives, industry linkages, career development, and employability enhancement.
- Contribute to accreditation, ranking, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and other institutional academic activities.
- Participate in academic committees, policy formulation, departmental planning, and other administrative responsibilities as assigned by the University.
- Undertake any other academic, research, extension, innovation, or administrative responsibilities entrusted by the University.
