Key Responsibilities
Design Heavy Fixtures: Create 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for massive welding jigs, assembly positioning frames, and transport pallets.
Load and Stress Analysis: Perform structural calculations or finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure fixtures can handle massive weights and thermal distortion during heavy welding.
Shop Floor Support: Coordinate with toolmakers, welders, and machinists to test recent tooling and solve fabrication fit-up issues.
Revision Control: Maintain accurate engineering change records and update tool blueprints as production requirements change.
Standardization:
Design modular tooling systems to reduce setup times for varying heavy plate and structural shapes.
Required Qualifications
Education: Diploma or ITI in Tool and Die.
Software Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD platforms like AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
Industry Experience: 1 to 3 years in a tool room or design office focusing on heavy engineering, fabrication, or structural machinery.
