Testing & Analysis Perform and supervise routine physico-chemical and microbiological testing: pH, TDS, TSS, BOD, COD, turbidity, hardness, chlorides, sulphates, alkalinity, DO, coliform/E.coli counts Conduct advanced testing for specific processes: silt density index (SDI) for RO/NF feed, MLSS/MLVSS/SVI for activated sludge and MBR systems, heavy metals, oil & grease Analyze raw water, in-process, and treated water/effluent samples at defined frequencies Perform jar tests to optimize coagulant/flocculant dosing Quality Assurance & Method Validation Ensure testing follows standard methods (APHA, IS, or equivalent) Validate and calibrate lab instruments (spectrophotometer, COD digester, DO meter, pH meter, TOC analyzer) Maintain QA/QC protocols including duplicate samples, spike recovery, and control charts Participate in or organize inter-lab comparisons/proficiency testing Compliance & Documentation Maintain lab records per regulatory requirements (CPCB/SPCB or equivalent)



Prepare test certificates and compliance reports for statutory submissions Support internal and inspections Maintain chain-of-custody for samples Process Support Provide real-time data to plant operations for process control decisions (dosing adjustments, membrane fouling alerts, biological process health) Flag out-of-spec results and coordinate root-cause investigation with operations team Support troubleshooting of scaling, fouling, or biological upsets using lab data trends Team & Lab Management Supervise junior chemists/lab technicians; assign daily testing schedules Train staff on methods, safety, and instrument handling Manage lab chemical/reagent inventory and reorder cycles Ensure lab safety compliance (MSDS, PPE, waste disposal of hazardous lab chemicals) Reporting Compile daily/weekly/monthly lab MIS reports and trend analysis Present quality trends and deviations to plant management Maintain historical data for performance benchmarking and regulatory filings
