Position Summary
The Director Symbiosis Institute of Staff Training & Professional Development will provide strategic leadership in designing, implementing, and continuously enhancing staff development initiatives across the University. The role is responsible for fostering excellence in teaching, learning, assessment, pedagogy, and academic innovation through structured training programs, Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, certifications and capacity-building initiatives.
The Director will lead the Institute and foster a culture of continuous professional growth among staff members, ensuring alignment with national and international standards of higher education and teaching excellence.
Role & responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the Institutes staff training and capacity-building strategy.
- Create annual and long-term training roadmaps aligned with institutional goals and accreditation requirements.
- Drive initiatives that enhance teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and learning outcomes.
Faculty Development & Training
- Design, organize, and oversee Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), orientation programs, refresher courses, and certification programs.
- Prepare and manage annual training calendars, staff learning pathways, and competency development frameworks.
- Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and identify development priorities for faculty across disciplines.
- Develop programs focusing on pedagogy, curriculum design, assessment methodologies, technology-enabled learning, research supervision, mentoring, and academic leadership.
- Facilitate and conduct training sessions, workshops, seminars, and learning interventions for faculty members.
Academic Excellence & Curriculum Innovation
- Promote innovative teaching methodologies, outcome-based education, experiential learning, blended learning,
and digital pedagogy.
- Guide departments in curriculum enhancement and instructional design.
- Ensure alignment of faculty development initiatives with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Support implementation of best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment.
Research, Quality & Collaboration
- Establish collaborations with academic institutions, professional bodies, and training organizations for faculty development initiatives.
- Encourage scholarship of teaching and learning, action research, and academic innovation.
- Monitor program effectiveness through feedback, impact assessment, and quality metrics.
- Develop reports, policy recommendations, and strategic plans for academic leadership.
Team & Centre Management
- Lead and mentor the Centres team of trainers, instructional designers, and academic development professionals.
- Manage budgets, resources, and operational activities of the Centre.
Build a sustainable ecosystem for continuous learning and career development within the University
Preferred candidate profile
- Minimum 1015 years of relevant experience in higher education, teacher education, faculty development, training, or academic leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), teacher training initiatives, and capacity-building interventions.
- Prior experience in conducting faculty training sessions, workshops, seminars, and learning interventions is essential.
- Experience in developing training calendars, competency frameworks, and institutional learning & development strategies.
- Experience in curriculum development, academic quality assurance, and pedagogical innovation is highly desirable.
Educational Qualifications :
- Ph.D. in Education or a related discipline, B.Ed., M. Ed
