About the Role

We are looking for an AS/400 (IBM i) Software Engineer to design, develop, debug, and support applications on the IBM i platform.

The role involves the complete development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, production deployment, and ongoing application support. Exposure to manual/functional testing is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and enhance applications on the AS/400 (IBM i) platform using RPGLE, RPG/400, CLLE, and CL/400.
- Design and modify programs, display files, and report files.
- Query and analyze DB2 data using SQL.
- Perform root cause analysis for defects and service requests.
- Provide batch support across development, testing, and production environments.
- Perform unit and integration testing.
- Support production deployments.
- Prepare technical specifications, workflow designs, and production-support documentation.
- Perform system maintenance and health checks.
- Automate housekeeping activities where possible.
- Follow change management and incident management processes.
- Ensure compliance with client SLAs.





Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

- 3–5 years of overall IT experience.
- Hands-on experience in AS/400 development and support.
- Strong knowledge of RPGLE, RPG/400, CLLE, CL/400 and ILE concepts.
- Proficiency in DB2 and SQL.
- Experience with AS/400 development tools:
- SEU
- SDA
- RLU
- PDM

- Strong debugging and unit-testing skills.
- Knowledge of test-case design.
- Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing tools such as Jira.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering – ECE, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

Good to Have

- Manual, functional, regression, and smoke testing experience.
- Change management, incident management, and production-support experience.
- Banking/financial services domain experience.
- Insurance domain experience, particularly policy administration.
- Payment application testing/certification experience such as Visa, Mastercard, or Amex.
- Ability to create user manuals and technical documentation.

- Solid in analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to understand functional specifications and convert them into tested code.
- Comfortable collaborating with Development, QA, and Business teams.
