Job Purpose

The Senior BW/HANA Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting SAP BW on HANA and Native HANA data solutions to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable business insights. The role also acts as a deputy to the SAP BW/HANA Platform Owner, contributing to governance, delivery management, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence.

Key Skills & Experience

- 810 years of SAP BW/BI experience with strong hands-on expertise in BW on HANA and Native HANA
- Expertise in:

- ADSOs, Composite Providers
- Transformations, DTPs, Process Chains
- Query development

- Robust HANA development skills:

- Calculation Views
- SQLScript, Advanced SQL
- Performance tuning & data modeling

- Experience delivering end-to-end data warehousing solutions
- Proven troubleshooting and production support experience
- Experience in BW modernization and migration (BW on HANA, BW/4HANA, S/4HANA)
- Functional knowledge of:

- Finance (FI/CO), COPA
- Supply Chain, Procurement, MM, SD

- Experience working in Agile environments
- Technical leadership and mentoring experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Key Responsibilities

- Design and implement SAP BW on HANA and Native HANA data solutions
- Gather and translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Lead data modeling,



transformations, and HANA development activities
- Drive modernization and migration initiatives (BW/4HANA, S/4HANA)
- Monitor and resolve data quality, performance, and processing issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (SAP Basis, Security, Infrastructure)
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and design reviews
- Continuously improve data architecture and development practices

Role Scope

- Senior member of a ~5-member BW/HANA team
- Reports to BW/HANA Platform Owner
- Involved in governance, delivery management, and stakeholder engagement
- Works on multiple parallel projects with tight timelines
- Requires collaboration with business and IT teams
- May require working outside standard hours when needed
