About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating CAD model, mechanical components and assemblies. You will heavily utilize PTC Creo for 3D modelling and take ownership of (PLM) workflows and Bill of Materials (BOM) generation. A key focus of this role will be driving our localization efforts by selecting and validating indigenous materials to ensure supply chain resilience and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

3D Modeling & Drafting: Create, review, and modify complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings using PTC Creo.

Material Selection & Indigenization: Research, evaluate, and select appropriate indigenous materials and equivalent local components. Lead material substitution efforts to support localization and minimize import dependencies without compromising product quality or performance.

PLM Management: Execute and manage PLM activities, including engineering change ECN, ECR, Modifications sheet, and document management.

BOM Creation: Structure, generate, and maintain accurate Bill of Material (BOM) for complex assemblies, ensuring alignment with procurement and manufacturing requirements.

Design for Manufacturing (DFM):



Ensure all designs are optimized for manufacturability, assembly, and cost-efficiency using available local manufacturing capabilities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and local vendors to resolve design issues, and support product launches.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech).

Experience: 4 to 5 years of proven industry experience in mechanical design and product development.

CAD Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in PTC Creo (Part modelling, Assembly, Detailing, and surfacing).

PLM Expertise: Strong hands-on experience navigating and managing workflows within PLM systems (e.g. Wind-chill).

BOM Management: Demonstrated ability to accurately create, structure, and maintain multi-level BOMs.

Material Science Knowledge: Robust understanding of material properties (metals, plastics, composites) and experience in material, and substitution for indigenization projects.

Preferred Competencies

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g. casting ,sheet metal fabrication, machining)

Proficiency in applying ASME Y14.5 GD&T; standards and tolerance stack-up analysis.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously.
