Role & responsibilities
- Perform CFD simulations for UAV configurations (fixed-wing, VTOL, hybrid) to analyze aerodynamic performance, flow behavior, pressure distribution, and drag/lift characteristics.
- Conduct aircraft-level and UAV-level calculations such as performance, stability, control, and sizing, supporting conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
- Carry out structural and, where needed, thermal analysis of critical UAV components (wings, fuselage, tail, mounts, brackets, composite structures) using FEM/FEA tools in coordination with structural engineers.
- Build and clean CFD-ready geometries from CAD models, generate high-quality meshes, set up boundary conditions, and select appropriate turbulence and solver models.
- Analyze and interpret simulation results, prepare technical reports, and propose design changes or optimization strategies based on CFD and structural findings.
- Collaborate closely with UAV design, structures, propulsion, and avionics teams to integrate analysis results into design iterations and R&D; projects.skill-lync+1
- Validate CFD and analytical models against experimental/flight-test data; refine models as needed to improve correlation and reliability.
- Support development of internal tools, methods, and best practices for UAV CFD and aircraft performance calculations as part of R&D; activities.
- Document workflows, maintain simulation databases, and ensure traceability and quality of all analysis work in line with company standards.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors/ Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering.
- 3–4 years of experience in CFD, aerodynamics, and structural/aircraft calculations within UAV, aircraft, or closely related aerospace applications.
- Experience specifically in drone/UAV projects (fixed-wing, VTOL, or hybrid platforms) and familiarity with UAV design workflows.
- Knowledge of composite materials and lightweight structures used in UAVs.
- Experience correlating CFD results with wind tunnel, bench tests, or flight-test data.
- Programming or scripting skills (MATLAB, or similar) for data processing and automation of workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently on R&D; tasks, and valuable technical communication for cross-functional collaboration.
