Position: Robot Teaching Technician

Location: Nighoje, Chakan, Pune

Reporting To: Robotic Engineer / Automation Head

Job Summary

The Robot Teaching Technician is responsible for robot teaching, touch-up programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining robotic welding and material handling systems. The role ensures optimum robot performance, quality, cycle time, and production efficiency while supporting daily manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform robot teaching for robotic welding,pick & place, loading/unloading, and material handling applications.
- Modify robot paths to improve accuracy, repeatability, and cycle time.
- Perform touch-up programming after fixture modifications or engineering changes.
- Set welding torch angles, TCP (Tool Center Point), and work object calibration.
- Carry out fixture calibration and coordinate teaching.
- Monitor welding quality and optimize robot motion for defect-free production.
- Troubleshoot robot alarms, positioning errors, and minor programming issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on robot arms, controllers, teach pendants, cables, and welding equipment.
- Check pneumatic systems, sensors, clamps, limit switches, and safety interlocks.




- Support production during recent model trials, PPAP, and customer validation.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to minimize downtime.
- Maintain robot teaching records and parameter backup.
- Ensure compliance with 5S, TPM, Safety, and IATF 16949 requirements.

Skills & Competencies

- Hands-on experience with ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, or Yaskawa Robots
- Robot teaching and touch-up programming
- Welding process knowledge (MIG/CO/Spot Welding)
- TCP & Frame Calibration
- Robot path optimization
- Basic PLC troubleshooting
- Sensor and pneumatic system knowledge
- Reading mechanical and electrical drawings
- Root Cause Analysis
- Problem-solving and analytical skills

Qualification

- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation

Experience

- 2 - 5 Years in robotic welding or automation industries.
