Role & responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Design and review BMS schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts.
- Develop and validate analog/digital circuits for voltage, current, temperature sensing, battery balancing, and HV isolation.
- Work with CAN, SPI, I2C, RS-485 communication interfaces.
- Perform hardware debugging, PCB bring-up, validation, and root cause analysis using lab equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, Logic Analyzer).
- Ensure BMS safety features, including contactors, relays, pre-charge circuits, fuses, and HV protection.
- Support EMI/EMC compliance, PCB manufacturing, and vendor coordination.
- Define BMS system requirements and interface with Charger, VCU, Motor Controller, and Telematics.
- Prepare design documentation (Schematics, DVP, DFMEA) and support EV battery pack testing and field issue resolution.
Preferred candidate profile
Mandatory Technical Skills
- BMS hardware architecture
- Battery pack architecture
- In-depth understanding of lithium-ion battery chemistry, characteristics, and associated safety concerns.
- Schematic Capture and PCB Layout: Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Orcad/Allegro)
- Extensive experience with electronic lab equipment for debugging and validation.
- High-voltage safety practices
- Hardware troubleshooting
- Understanding of CAN at hardware level
Valuable to Have
- Experience with certifications & compliance (AIS / IEC )
- Experience with battery pack manufacturing
- Exposure to system-level validation
- Experience with automotive functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and safety concept development.
- Experience with high-voltage systems (e.g., SAE J1772, ISO 6469) and safety standards.
