Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Formulation Expert (TPE/TPU/TPV) to join an Advanced Research & Development team. The selected candidate will be responsible for understanding application performance and service requirements and developing polymer compounds with minimal iterations for customers across multiple market segments, including Transportation, Healthcare, Consumer, Industrial, and Electrical & Electronics.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of polymer science and hands-on experience in polymer compounding and processing techniques such as extrusion, injection molding, and calendering. A solid understanding of polymer testing methods and the ability to interpret analytical and customer trial data are essential to optimize formulations, improve processing performance, and resolve technical challenges.

This role requires close collaboration with Application Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to develop innovative material solutions and support new product commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and optimize TPE formulations to meet customer requirements for performance, processability, regulatory compliance, and cost targets.
- Evaluate and qualify current raw materials, including base polymers, additives, fillers, and modifiers, to improve product performance and reduce costs.
- Analyze thermal, mechanical, rheological, and customer trial data to optimize formulations and resolve processing challenges.
- Lead root cause investigations to identify and resolve product quality issues and manufacturing defects.
- Collaborate with R&D;, Sales, Marketing, and Application Engineering teams to support customer projects and develop application-specific material solutions.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality teams during scale-up activities and establish optimal processing parameters for new formulations.




- Prepare technical reports, maintain formulation records, document development activities, and support intellectual property initiatives where applicable.
- Create and maintain SAP Material Masters, Formulations, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and related product documentation to support product development, commercialization, and engineering change management.

Required Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.

Experience

- 7–8 years of industrial experience in polymer formulation and material characterization.
- Strong hands-on experience in TPE formulation, compound development, technical troubleshooting, and customer-focused product development.
- Experience working with materials such as:

- SEBS
- SBS
- TPV
- TPO
- TPU
- TPE-E
- TPE-A

- Good understanding of elastomer chemistry, additives, fillers, modifiers, and structure-property relationships.
- Experience with polymer processing equipment, including extrusion, injection molding, and compounding.
- Proficiency in analytical and material characterization techniques such as:

- DSC
- TGA
- FTIR
- Rheology
- Mechanical Testing
- UV Testing
- Flammability Testing

- Exposure to applications in Automotive/Transportation, Healthcare, Consumer Products, Industrial, Electrical & Electronics, Wire & Cable, or Packaging industries.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE), statistical analysis techniques, and Minitab is preferred.
- Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, and other relevant industry standards.
