Product Owner
Posting type: External
Department: Product Management
Reports to: VP, Product Management
Location: Remote (Travel: 1020%)
Shift timing: 2 pm 11 pm
About this role
Process manufacturers still retype data they did not create. Purchase orders, invoices, certificates of analysis, and safety data sheets arrive from their customers and suppliers as PDFs, scans, and paper, and someone keys them in by hand. Every keystroke costs money and risks an error in a lot record or regulatory document.
VisionAI is Datacor's agentic document processing and workflow automation product. It removes the keying step and governs what happens next document intake, supplier onboarding, and customer onboarding as processes the system enforces rather than conventions people follow. It spans our compliance management product and document use cases across ERP, CRM, and Formulation.
VisionAI is moving from concept into design-partner delivery, and strategy and execution can no longer sit with one person.
This role does not own the VisionAI roadmap or arbitrate priorities across our ERP, CRM, Formulation, and Compliance Management lines the VP of Product Management does. It shapes both. You will be closer to the design partners than anyone else, which makes you the primary source of evidence for what gets built next. Bring a point of view and argue it. The compliance product and several document use cases are live; the agentic workflow layer is not.
What you will do
Own the VisionAI backlog. Turn roadmap direction into use cases, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria engineering can build against. You are in refinement, sprint planning, review, and acceptance.
Run the early adopter program. Recruit and manage design partners across chemicals, food & beverage, and animal feed. Sit with the AP clerk retyping the invoice before writing the requirement.
¢ Feed the roadmap. Turn design-partner findings into a point of view on what to build next and what to drop, and bring it to roadmap reviews with evidence.
¢ Make reliability a shipping condition. Deterministic behavior,
auditability, and human-in-the-loop escalation are product requirements, not tuning. A document type ships when its failure modes are known and handled, not when the demo runs clean.
¢ Build the document type library. Each type carries its own field set, validation rules, and trading-partner variation a CoA from one supplier looks nothing like the next.
¢ Specify the workflow layer. Model how supplier and customer onboarding run, then define what the system enforces, what it automates, and what a human approves.
¢ Coordinate delivery across product lines. Sequence VisionAI work against the ERP, CRM, Formulation, and Compliance Management release trains. Escalate conflicts with evidence rather than absorbing them.
¢ Run the project. Dates, dependencies, blockers, and status across engineering teams and design partners a substantial, unglamorous part of the job.
What we are looking for
¢ 2+ years owning a backlog as a product owner, business analyst, or equivalent, writing requirements engineers built from.
¢ Working knowledge of the documents themselves. What fields matter on a purchase order, an invoice, a CoA, or an SDS; what varies by trading partner; what breaks downstream when a value is wrong. Depth in at least two of order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, or regulatory documentation. EDI experience helps.
¢ Process manufacturing, or a regulated industry with comparable traceability and documentation demands. Multi-plant, multi-entity, change-averse customers with long implementation cycles. You understand why a chemicals customer will not accept 95% accurate SDS extraction.
¢ Data and integration fluency. Comfortable with data models, API payloads,
and field-level validation, and able to reason about what breaks when a field maps wrong.
¢ Project management discipline. Holding dates, dependencies, and status across teams you do not manage.
¢ Strong written communication. You can lay out a problem, the options, the tradeoffs, and your recommendation in a structured, evidence-based narrative someone can act on without a meeting.
¢ Discovery curiosity. Pushing past the solution a customer asks for to the problem underneath.
¢ Hands-on use of AI in daily work. You already use AI to draft, research, summarize, and analyze, and will use it here for requirements writing, discovery synthesis, and document analysis. What matters is judgment knowing where AI accelerates work and where its output cannot be trusted.
¢ Exposure to AI or data-driven products, preferred. Beyond superficial "AI feature" work you know why extraction is judged on error modes and confidence thresholds, not an accuracy average.
¢ Judgment under constraint. Deciding with incomplete information, revising when better information arrives, and keeping engineers and designers with you.
¢ Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
¢ Comfort influencing a decision you do not make. You will shape the roadmap with evidence and argue a position. The VP of Product makes the call, including when it goes against you.
Why take this role
¢ A 01 product with an installed base waiting for it. The ambiguity of building something new, without the usual problem of having no customers.
¢ Portfolio breadth, quick. VisionAI touches ERP, CRM, Formulation, and Compliance Management. You will learn how a whole portfolio fits together, not one corner of it.
¢ Direct line to the VP of Product. You report to the person who owns the strategy, which puts you in the room where it gets set.
¢ A countable result. Manual keying eliminated, by document type and by customer. You will be able to say exactly what you shipped and what it removed.
