1. Job Purpose To drive strategic sourcing and techno-commercial procurement excellence across critical mechanical, electrical, and electronic part categories by developing sourcing strategies, leading supplier negotiations, conducting zero-based costing of parts and tooling, managing supplier performance and risk, and ensuring cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and quality adherence. The role is responsible for protecting BOM economics, driving sustainable cost reduction, and strengthening the supplier ecosystem through structured market intelligence, supplier strategy, and cross-functional collaboration.

3. Key Result Areas (KRAs) / Principal Accountabilities

3.1 Strategic Sourcing Category Management

Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans aligned with business objectives, product cost targets, localization requirements, and supply continuity priorities. Define and implement category strategies for critical mechanical, electrical, and electronic components. Establish supplier strategy for assigned categories to ensure optimal sourcing mix, competitive pricing, continuity of supply, and technology access. Formulate pricing strategy for key and critical parts/suppliers to safeguard BOM costing and support profitability objectives.

3.2 Supplier Identification, Evaluation Onboarding

Identify, assess, evaluate, and onboard suppliers based on cost competitiveness, technical capability, quality systems, delivery reliability, and scalability. Conduct supplier capability assessments, commercial reviews, technical evaluations, and process audits prior to sourcing finalization. Build and maintain strong supplier base knowledge across India and overseas markets for categories such as semiconductors, connectors, wiring harnesses, ECUs, lighting systems, batteries, horns, switches, relays, and allied parts. Establish sustainable supplier relationships to enable long-term business alignment, innovation, and performance improvement.

3.3 Commercial Negotiation Contract Management

Lead end-to-end commercial negotiations covering: Part pricing, Tooling pricing, Development Validation (DD) charges, DVPR charges, Contracts, Service-level agreements. Finalize commercial terms in line with quality, cost, delivery, and service expectations. Execute price amendments at agreed frequency while incorporating commodity trends, inflationary movements, and cost changes. Ensure commercial closure with governance, transparency, and adherence to procurement policies.

3.4 Zero-Based Costing (ZBC) Parts

Carry out detailed zero-based costing / should-cost analysis for assigned component categories. Develop cost models for parts including but not limited to: Semiconductors, Connectors, Wiring Harness, Headlamp, Tail Lamp, Blinkers, Horn, Batteries, Relays, Switches, ECU, Mechanical Electronic Throttle Body, Gaskets, Pistons, Valves, Sensors, Oil Pump, Spark Plug, Sintered Products, Mechanical Cables. Analyse material composition, process flow, cycle time, conversion cost, overhead allocation, and supplier margins for effective commercial decision-making. Support negotiations through structured cost decomposition and benchmarking.

3.5 Zero-Based Costing (ZBC) Tooling

Perform detailed zero-based costing of tooling such as: Dies, Moulds, Checking Fixtures, Gauges / allied tooling aids. Evaluate tooling cost drivers including tooling material, machining complexity, cavity design, cycle time, heat treatment, finish, tool life, and maintenance requirement. Ensure tooling investments are commercially optimized and aligned with production, lifecycle, and development needs.

3.6 Technical / Manufacturing Process Knowledge

Demonstrate strong knowledge of part processing and manufacturing processes, especially: Chip / semiconductor manufacturing, Lamp manufacturing, Wiring manufacturing. Apply processing knowledge to assess feasibility, identify cost reduction levers, benchmark supplier capability, and support sourcing decisions.



Possess sound technical understanding of tooling materials and their impact on durability, cost, productivity, and quality.

3.7 Cost Reduction Value Engineering

Generate cost reduction ideas for assigned categories through value engineering, alternate sourcing, process improvement, design optimization, and localization. Lead implementation of approved cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with CDMM, engineering, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders. Establish structured savings pipeline and monitor realization of negotiated and engineered cost reductions. Protect BOM economics through proactive intervention on parts pricing, process cost, raw material movement, and supplier strategy.

3.8 Market Intelligence Spend Analysis

Conduct market research on raw material trends, industry standards, supplier market dynamics, and technology developments. Perform spend analysis to identify sourcing leverage, supplier concentration risks, negotiation opportunities, and cost-saving potential. Maintain updated knowledge of domestic and global supplier markets across key automotive electrical/electronic categories. Use market intelligence and spend data to support sourcing strategy, supplier selection, negotiation planning, and business case evaluation.

3.9 Supplier Performance Management

Develop and monitor supplier performance metrics covering cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness, development support, and capacity readiness. Conduct periodic supplier reviews and performance governance discussions. Initiate corrective and preventive actions in cases of underperformance and ensure closure through structured follow-up. Drive supplier development to improve capability, competitiveness, quality consistency, and service levels.

3.10 Supplier Risk Assessment Mitigation

Conduct supplier risk assessments covering commercial, operational, financial, compliance, capacity, and geopolitical dimensions. Develop mitigation strategies including dual sourcing, supplier diversification, localization, and business continuity planning. Monitor risk indicators for critical suppliers/components and proactively recommend action plans. Work with internal stakeholders to safeguard continuity of supply for high-risk or business-critical categories.

3.11 Cross-Functional Interface Management

Collaborate closely with CDMM, Procurement, Finance, Operations, Legal, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure aligned sourcing outcomes. Support product development and sourcing decisions by providing cost analysis, supplier insights, and negotiation inputs. Ensure seamless coordination from sourcing proposal, supplier nomination, commercial closure, and implementation stages. Facilitate alignment between business expectations and supplier commitments.

3.12 Compliance, Governance Sustainability

Ensure ethical sourcing practices and compliance with procurement governance standards. Maintain strong understanding of domestic and import taxation and assess its impact on landed cost and BOM economics. Ensure sourcing decisions are made considering commercial compliance, tax implications, and contractual safeguards. Promote sustainability, responsible sourcing, and long-term supplier governance practices.

3.13 Process Excellence Systems Utilization

Drive continuous improvement in procurement and sourcing processes to improve efficiency, control, analytical accuracy, and responsiveness. Leverage strong hands-on capability in MS Excel for costing models, spend analysis, dashboards, and negotiation preparation. Use MS PowerPoint effectively for leadership reviews, sourcing updates, and strategic presentations.



Contribute to standardization of costing templates, sourcing workflows, review mechanisms, and supplier management processes.

6. Educational Qualification

Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Electronics Engineering or equivalent technical discipline Additional qualification in Procurement / Supply Chain / Cost Management would be an added advantage

7. Experience

8 15 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development, costing, or techno-commercial roles Relevant exposure in automotive / auto-component / engineering / manufacturing sectors preferred Strong experience in sourcing of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components Experience in domestic and international supplier handling preferred Prior exposure to ZBC / should-costing, tooling costing, and supplier negotiations is essential
