Role - AIX Application Support Engineer

Shift - US EST time Zone - Rotational shift (24/7)

Job Location - Pune Balewadi _ 5 Days Work From Office

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Change Control and Maintenance Coordination (35%)

- Own the end-to-end AIX change management process through ServiceNow, including creating and managing Requests for Change (RFCs), coordinating CAB submissions, obtaining application team approvals, and scheduling maintenance activities.
- Ensure all AIX infrastructure changes impacting Tier 1 applications follow established change management policies and procedures.
- Coordinate maintenance windows with application owners, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
- Communicate change plans, risks, execution timelines, and post-change outcomes effectively.
- Ensure accurate change documentation, implementation plans, validation steps, and rollback procedures are maintained.

2. Tier 1 / Tier 2 Incident Escalation and Resolution (30%)

- Act as the Level 3 escalation point for AIX-related production incidents impacting critical business applications.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution efforts across AIX operations, HMC/frame management, storage, network, database, and application support teams.
- Analyze complex infrastructure issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Drive incident resolution within defined SLAs and ensure timely stakeholder communication.
- Maintain detailed incident records, troubleshooting documentation, root cause analysis reports, and post-incident review artifacts in ServiceNow.

3. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity (20%)





- Maintain and enhance Disaster Recovery (DR) runbooks for AIX-hosted Tier 1 applications.
- Coordinate DR planning, testing, and execution activities with application owners and infrastructure teams.
- Validate Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) during DR exercises.
- Identify operational gaps, document risks, and drive remediation activities with technical leads and architects.
- Ensure AIX platforms remain aligned with business continuity requirements.

4. Observability, Reporting, and Automation Enablement (15%)

- Collaborate with monitoring and observability teams to develop dashboards providing application-centric views of AIX infrastructure health and performance.
- Generate operational reports including change execution summaries, incident trend analysis, SLA compliance metrics, and service health indicators.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve platform reliability and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to automation initiatives by integrating ServiceNow workflows with Ansible-based automation and MCP server execution frameworks.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks and improve service delivery.

Required Skills -





- 5+ years of experience in AIX infrastructure operations with application support responsibility.
- Strong understanding of change management frameworks (ITIL) and CAB processes.
- Proficient in ServiceNow for change management, incident management, problem management, and CMDB activities.
- Experienced in coordinating maintenance windows for Tier 1 application workloads.
- Proven experience in incident management and escalation coordination in high-availability environments.
- Familiar with AIX high-availability solutions (PowerHA / HACMP), including fixing broken clusters and handling updates.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis (RCA) and prepare executive-level incident summaries.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-team and leadership engagement.
- Available for on-call escalation coverage for critical Tier 1 incidents.

Preferred / Nice to Have

- ITIL Foundations certification (required); ITIL Practitioner preferred
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification
- Experience integrating ServiceNow with automation tools (Ansible, webhooks)
- Familiarity with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools
- Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and testing experience across IBM Power Systems workloads
- IBM Certified Systems Expert AIX certification
- Experience working in regulated environments, including SOX, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS compliance frameworks

EducationBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent experience in lieu of degree accepted
