About the Role

SRL is looking for a skilled and proactive R&D; Chemist to join our Research & Development team at our Turbhe, Navi Mumbai facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments, developing and optimizing chemical products and processes, analyzing experimental results, and supporting the scale-up of products from laboratory to commercial production. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in chemical synthesis, product development, process optimization, and analytical techniques within a chemical manufacturing, specialty chemicals, research chemicals, or related industry.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and execute laboratory experiments for the development of new chemical products, formulations and processes.
- Perform chemical synthesis, reaction optimization and product development as per project requirements.
- Evaluate and optimize existing products and processes to improve quality, yield, efficiency, cost and scalability.
- Analyze experimental results and recommend appropriate technical solutions based on data and observations.
- Support scale-up and technology transfer of successful laboratory processes to pilot/commercial production.
- Work closely with Production, QC, QA and Regulatory teams to ensure products meet defined quality and technical requirements.
- Support troubleshooting of process and product-related technical issues and provide R&D; inputs for improvement.




- Conduct literature reviews and technical research to identify new technologies, materials, processes and product opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain experimental records, SOPs, technical reports and other R&D; documentation.
- Maintain proper laboratory practices, chemical handling procedures and safety standards.
- Ensure laboratory equipment, chemicals and work areas are maintained in a safe, clean and organized manner.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or a related field.
- 25 years of relevant industrial R&D; experience in chemical manufacturing, specialty chemicals, research chemicals, pharmaceuticals or a related industry.
- Hands-on experience in chemical synthesis, process development, formulation or product development.
- Strong understanding of chemical reactions, laboratory techniques and experimental procedures.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques and interpretation of data from instruments such as HPLC, GC, IR, UV-Vis, NMR, TLC, etc., as applicable to the role.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to independently plan experiments, analyze results and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Good documentation and technical report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
