About the Role

Credgenics is looking to hire an experienced Chief Legal Officer / Head of Legal to lead and manage the legal function, drive high-quality and timely delivery of legal services to clients, and provide strategic legal guidance across BFSI, collections, recovery, litigation, and contractual matters.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in BFSI laws, litigation, court procedures, recovery matters, contract drafting and review, and legal operations, along with proven team leadership and stakeholder management capabilities. The candidate should also have a practical, flexible, and hands-on approach to resolving ground-level legal and operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage a team of lawyers, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of legal work and services to clients.
- Oversee day-to-day legal operations and ensure effective execution against client requirements and business objectives.
- Provide strategic legal guidance on matters related to the BFSI sector, collections, recovery, litigation, and contracts.
- Ensure the legal team is well-versed with applicable court procedures, legal processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee and guide matters involving legal notices, Section 138 matters, matters under the NIA/PASS Act, Mediation, Conciliation, Arbitration, and other recovery-related legal proceedings.
- Handle and oversee contract drafting, review, negotiation, and management as required.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve legal, operational, and client-related challenges effectively.
- Coordinate and work closely with India Post and other relevant external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a flexible,



hands-on approach and actively participate in resolving ground-level legal and operational issues.
- Support the business and customer acquisition teams from a legal and commercial perspective, wherever required.
- Identify practical and commercially viable solutions to complex legal and operational challenges.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Build, mentor, and lead a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing legal team.
- Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, contractual, and internal compliance requirements across the legal function.

Required Skills & Competencies

- 10+ years of relevant legal experience, with strong exposure to BFSI-related matters.
- Excellent knowledge of BFSI laws, regulations, litigation, collections, and recovery processes.
- Strong understanding of court procedures and legal processes.
- Strong experience in contract drafting, review, negotiation, and management.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of lawyers.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a practical and flexible approach.
- Hands-on attitude with the ability to address and resolve ground-level issues.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work closely with business and customer acquisition teams.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, ownership, and accountability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Good working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, email, and basic office tools.

Preferred Background

Preference will be given to candidates currently or previously working with banks, NBFCs, digital lenders, or Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs), with strong exposure to BFSI legal matters, litigation, recovery, contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
