This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Payroll Administrator II (Data Entry) based in India.
As a Payroll Administrator II, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across multiple jurisdictions. You will serve as a trusted resource for complex payroll matters, with a strong focus on data accuracy, issue resolution, and operational excellence. The role involves managing payroll exceptions, adjustments, deductions, reconciliations, and other sensitive payroll processes. You will collaborate with internal teams, external providers, and in-country payroll partners to resolve issues and maintain smooth payroll delivery. You will also contribute to system updates, testing, process improvements, and automation initiatives. With more than 85% of the role focused on resolving complex payroll matters, this position is well suited to a detail-oriented qualified who enjoys investigation and problem-solving. You will also support colleagues and act as an escalation point when urgent payroll issues arise.
Accountabilities:
- Manage payroll exceptions, adjustments, garnishments, benefit deductions, levies, reconciliations, and other complex payroll-related matters.
- Perform accurate payroll data entry and validation while ensuring payroll information is complete, consistent, and processed on schedule.
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll issues, including quarter-end and year-end processing discrepancies and reconciliation challenges.
- Ensure payroll activities comply with applicable legislation, tax requirements, statutory regulations, and local payroll practices.
- Partner with internal teams, external payroll service providers, and in-country vendors to investigate and resolve payroll matters.
- Work directly with employees and clients when necessary to understand and resolve complex payroll issues.
- Support payroll implementations, system updates, statutory changes, and operational program rollouts.
- Participate in testing payroll system enhancements, updates, and new functionality to ensure accurate payroll outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, documentation, controls, and workflows, including opportunities for automation and technology adoption.
- Monitor payroll performance against relevant SLAs and KPIs and contribute to operational improvements.
- Provide guidance and support to other payroll specialists and payroll administrators to maintain consistent quality and continuity of payroll delivery.
- Serve as a first- or second-level escalation point for urgent payroll matters and provide backup support to the Payroll Manager when required.
- Handle confidential employee and payroll information with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of professional payroll experience, preferably gained within a payroll service provider or similar multi-client environment.
- Experience managing end-to-end payroll operations across multiple countries or regions, including the Americas, EMEA, and/or APAC.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, validations, reconciliations, statutory filings, and local payroll compliance requirements.
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation, taxability rules, earnings and deductions, gross-to-net calculations, and payroll best practices across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate discrepancies, interpret payroll data, resolve exceptions, and maintain high levels of accuracy.
- Experience supporting payroll implementations, operational rollouts, system changes, and process improvements.
- Demonstrated interest in automation, AI-enabled solutions, and technology adoption to improve payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Proficiency with payroll systems and related technologies, along with the ability to quickly learn new platforms and tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail, particularly when managing high volumes of sensitive payroll information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with employees, clients, internal stakeholders, external vendors, and government agencies.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, geographically distributed environment.
- High level of integrity, discretion,
and professionalism when handling confidential employee and payroll information.
- Ability to work with urgency, prioritize competing issues, and take ownership of complex payroll investigations through resolution.
