Role Summary
The Senior SRE & DevOps Leader is a senior technical leadership role that owns enterprise platform-level Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps across all product engineering teams. This role provides end-to-end ownership of reliability, CI/CD, environment and branch management, observability, incident response, and FinOps — defining the shared engineering standards, platform tooling, and best practices that give every product team a consistent, secure, and cost-efficient path to production. The leader sets enterprise DevOps and reliability strategy builds the central platform capabilities that teams consume, and mentors’ engineers to drive a culture of operational excellence organization wide.
Responsibilities
Enterprise SRE & Reliability Ownership
- Own enterprise platform-level reliability; define and govern SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets across all products and shared services, driving uptime, latency, and reliability targets.
- Own incident management, on-call, and blameless postmortems, along with resilience, HA/DR, scaling, and performance engineering.
Enterprise CI/CD, Build & Release Engineering
- Own and standardize enterprise-wide build scripts and CI/CD pipelines; consolidate fragmented tooling into a consistent,
governed toolchain used by all teams.
- Establish enterprise branch-management and release standards — feature, release, and hotfix policies, tagging/versioning, and blue-green / canary deployments.
- Drive Infrastructure as Code, automated deployments, and repeatable, auditable release processes as reusable platform capabilities.
Setting, Configuration & Access Management
- Own environment management (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod) with consistent provisioning, configuration, and promotion controls across the platform.
- Manage access, secrets, and credentials; enforce least-privilege and serve as IT liaison for infrastructure and platform dependencies.
Observability, Monitoring & Logging
- Establish enterprise-wide monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting standards with actionable dashboards and SLO-based alerts.
- Instrument systems for proactive detection, faster MTTR, and data-driven capacity and reliability decisions.
FinOps, Capacity & Server Sizing
- Drive FinOps practices — cost optimization, server right-sizing, autoscaling, capacity planning, and infrastructure budgeting across the platform.
- Provide unit-cost visibility (per product / workload) to support platform-economics and rate-card decisions.
Security, Compliance & Best-Practice Enablement
- Embed security policies, patch/vulnerability management, and compliance (HIPAA/PHI, SOC 2, Zero Trust) into the delivery pipeline.
- Champion and roll out enterprise SRE/DevOps best practices across every product team; mentor engineers and build a culture of operational excellence.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Act as enterprise technical authority and mentor for SRE and DevOps engineers across all product teams.
- Lead design reviews,
technical decision forums, and operational governance; collaborate with product, engineering, security, and compliance stakeholders in Agile environments.
Required Skills & Expertise
- SRE fundamentals: SLI/SLO/error budgets, incident & on-call management, resilience / chaos engineering, HA/DR
- CI/CD & DevOps: Azure DevOps, Git, Jenkins, Jira; build & release automation, branch/environment management, blue-green & canary
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform / Bicep / ARM; automated, repeatable provisioning
- Observability: monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting; APM & dashboards (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, App Insights, Datadog)
- Cloud & platform: AWS and Azure; Kubernetes / containers, serverless, networking, autoscaling; platform / internal developer platform engineering
- FinOps: cloud cost optimization, server right-sizing, capacity planning, unit-cost / rate-card modeling
- SecOps: access & secrets management, security policy enforcement, HIPAA/PHI, SOC 2, Zero Trust, vulnerability & patch management
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with healthcare / RCM platforms and HIPAA / SOC 2 / HITRUST audit environments
- Experience building an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and developer-productivity tooling at enterprise scale
- Experience defining enterprise DevOps / SRE strategy at a platform or organizational level, driven by DORA metrics
Role Level
