About the Role
n
n
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Product Design Engineer to join our product development team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in mechanical product design and development, with the ability to take products from concept and engineering development through prototyping, validation, and manufacturing.
n
n
You will work closely with Industrial Designers, Engineers, Prototyping, Manufacturing, and Vendors to develop innovative, functional, and manufacturable products across diverse industries.
n
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Product Design & Development
n
n
- Conceptualize, design, and develop new products from ideation to production.
n
- Translate product concepts and requirements into practical mechanical solutions.
n
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
n
- Work on design iterations based on testing, feedback, and engineering requirements.
n
- Ensure designs meet functional, performance, quality, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
n
- Evaluate design feasibility and identify potential engineering challenges at an early stage.
n
n
Prototyping & Validation
n
n
- Conduct feasibility studies and support prototype development.
n
- Coordinate with prototyping teams and vendors for timely development of prototypes.
n
- Participate in hands-on testing and validation under real-world operating conditions.
n
- Analyze test results and implement necessary design improvements.
n
- Drive design iterations until the product meets defined performance and functional requirements.
n
n
Engineering & Manufacturing
n
n
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
n
- Develop designs suitable for plastic, sheet metal, casting, machining, and other manufacturing processes.
n
- Apply knowledge of DFM/DFA principles to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
n
- Coordinate with manufacturing and vendor teams for design finalization and production readiness.
n
- Support engineering changes and resolve manufacturing-related design issues.
n
n
CAD & Design Finalization
n
n
- Develop and finalize detailed CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
n
- Take ownership of CAD finalization and prototype release.
n
- Maintain design documentation, revisions,
BOMs, and technical specifications.
n
- Ensure design outputs are accurate, complete, and ready for prototyping/manufacturing.
n
n
Vendor Management & Coordination
n
n
- Coordinate with external vendors for prototyping, tooling, components, and manufacturing.
n
- Communicate technical requirements and resolve design/manufacturing issues with vendors.
n
- Review vendor inputs, samples, and prototype outputs.
n
- Ensure vendor deliverables meet defined technical and quality requirements.
n
n
Cross-Functional Collaboration
n
n
- Work closely with Industrial Designers, Mechanical Engineers, Electronics Engineers, Project Managers, Prototyping, and Manufacturing teams.
n
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless transition from design to engineering and manufacturing.
n
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
n
- Communicate technical concepts and design decisions effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
n
n
Continuous Learning & Innovation
n
n
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, materials, manufacturing processes, and product development trends.
n
- Research relevant product, technology, and patent trends.
n
- Identify opportunities to improve product functionality, manufacturability, performance, and cost.
n
n
n
Required Qualifications
n
n
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
n
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in mechanical product design and development.
n
- Proven experience in developing physical products from concept through prototyping and manufacturing.
n
- Strong hands-on experience with 3D CAD and engineering drawing.
n
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
n
- Good understanding of plastics, metals, sheet metal, casting, machining, and other manufacturing processes.
n
- Strong understanding of product development and engineering workflows.
n
- Ability to visualize functional and mechanical aspects of products.
n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
n
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a cross-functional team.
n
- Self-driven, process-oriented, proactive, and willing to learn.
n
- High level of integrity, ownership, and qualified work ethic.

Added Advantage
n

- Master's degree in Product Design / Industrial Design / Mechanical Design.
n
- Understanding of patents, product trends, and emerging technologies.
n
- Experience with FEA / mechanical and thermal simulations.
n
- Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
n
- Experience working with consumer products, medical devices, electronics, home appliances, or other complex physical products.
n
- Experience with DFM/DFA, tooling, injection molding, die casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
n
- Exposure to design consultancy or product innovation environments.
n
