Product Designer – Lighting & Home Décor Location: Noida / Greater Noida Employment Type: Full-time, in office
Travel: Regular travel to factories and sourcing markets in India and internationally
About FIG Living FIG Living is an Indian design-led lighting and home décor brand creating original products that bring warmth, character and thoughtful functionality into contemporary homes. With an owned manufacturing ecosystem and a growing network of specialist vendors, we take products from the first sketch to the final packaged piece.
The Role We are looking for an entrepreneurial Product Designer who can work closely with FIG Living’s founders, sourcing team and manufacturing partners to create distinctive, commercially successful products.
You will translate founder briefs and consumer insights into product concepts, develop them alongside factories, refine samples through multiple iterations and ensure that every product is commercially viable, production-ready and delivered in packaging that reflects the FIG Living experience.
Beyond designing individual products, you will help define FIG Living’s evolving product charter, design language and merchandising strategy across lighting, furniture and home décor.
Key Responsibilities Product strategy and design
Work directly with the founders to translate business objectives, market opportunities and creative briefs into compelling product concepts.
Help develop and continuously refine the FIG Living Design Charter across categories, materials, colours, forms and price points.
Create sketches, technical drawings, material specifications, renders and detailed product-development briefs.
Ensure every product remains recognisably FIG Living while bringing something fresh to the collection.
Balance originality and aesthetics with functionality, manufacturability, target pricing and commercial potential.
Merchandising and range development
Collaborate with the founders and sourcing team to build seasonal and annual merchandising plans.
Identify product gaps, emerging design directions, material opportunities and potential hero products.
Create cohesive collections instead of isolated products, with clear roles across entry, core and statement price points.
Participate in sourcing fairs, factory visits and market research in India and overseas.
Work hands-on with sourcing partners, artisans, engineers and factories to convert concepts into production-ready products.
Lead the sampling process—from the first prototype through corrections, testing, costing and final approval.
Visit factories regularly to solve product-development and manufacturing challenges at the source.
Evaluate materials, finishes, construction methods and components to improve quality and product value.
Maintain speed and momentum across several development projects simultaneously.
Ensure designs meet target costs, margins, quality standards and production timelines.
Coordinate with sourcing, quality and production teams during pilot runs and bulk manufacturing.
Own the product until it is completely market-ready—not merely until the design is approved.
Develop packaging briefs that protect the product, enable efficient logistics and deliver a premium unboxing experience.
Finalise product specifications, assembly instructions, care information and other product documentation.
A degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Lifestyle Accessory Design or a related discipline.
Relevant experience in lighting, furniture, home décor, lifestyle products or consumer-product development.
Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, especially metal, wood, glass, ceramics, stone, textiles, plastics and electrical components.
Ability to communicate ideas through sketches, technical drawings, renders, specifications and physical prototypes.
Experience working directly with vendors, artisans or factories and taking products from concept to production.
Strong aesthetic judgement combined with a clear understanding of pricing, margins and customer demand.
Willingness to travel frequently to factories and sourcing markets in India and internationally.
You should enjoy being equally involved in the design studio, at a vendor’s workshop and on the factory floor. Work directly with the founding team and shape the creative direction of a rapidly growing Indian design brand.
Help create the next generation of design-led lighting and home products from India.
