We are looking for a skilled and experienced VMC Operator Cum Setter to independently set up and operate Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) for manufacturing high-precision components. The ideal candidate should possess solid machine setting skills, the ability to read engineering drawings, and hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments. Candidates with knowledge of Mastercam and Siemens NX software will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently set up and operate Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines.
- Perform complete machine setup before commencing production.
- Install and align fixtures, vises, clamps, hydraulic, and pneumatic fixtures.
- Load and unload raw materials safely and efficiently.
- Conduct first-piece inspection to verify machine setup and product quality.
- Interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and production instructions.
- Set tool offsets, work offsets, and replace cutting tools as required.
- Monitor machining operations to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Dial Indicator
- Bore Gauge (Preferred)
- Record daily production output, rejection details, and machine downtime.
- Troubleshoot minor machining and tooling issues to minimize production delays.
- Coordinate with the VMC Programmer and Quality team for process improvements.
- Support preventive maintenance activities to ensure machine reliability.
- Follow all PPE, EHS, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S practices within the production area.
