1. Position Purpose To ensure effective implementation of industrial safety practices, statutory compliance, and accident prevention programs in accordance with the Factories Act, 1948 and Gujarat Factories Rules, 1963. The Safety Officer will monitor workplace hazards, ensure safe work practices, and promote a safety culture to minimize accidents and occupational risks. 2. Statutory Responsibilities The Safety Officer shall advise and assist the Factory Manager in fulfilling obligations concerning workplace safety and accident prevention. Safety Policy Implementation Assist management in the formulation and implementation of safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with provisions of the Factories Act and Gujarat Factory Rules. Accident Prevention Identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts in the factory. Recommend corrective and preventive measures to avoid accidents. Safety Inspections Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, work areas, and processes. Monitor secure working conditions across the factory. Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and recommend risk mitigation measures.
Ensure adequate machine guarding and safety devices are in place. Accident Investigation Investigate industrial accidents, dangerous occurrences, and near misses. Conduct root cause analysis and recommend preventive actions. Safety Training Organize safety training, awareness programs, and safety induction for employees and contractors. Promote safety awareness across the organization. Safety Committee Coordination Assist in organizing and participating in Safety Committee meetings. Ensure implementation of committee recommendations. Safety Records & Documentation Maintain safety registers, accident records, and statutory documents. Prepare reports required by Factory Inspectorate and management. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ensure proper selection, availability, and usage of PPE by employees. Monitor compliance of PPE across the plant. Emergency Preparedness Develop and maintain emergency response plans. Conduct fire drills, evacuation drills, and mock emergency exercises. Contractor Safety Management Ensure contractors follow plant safety procedures. Monitor safety compliance of contract workers.
