ABOUT THE ROLE

We're building a product where the backend does the heavy lifting — API surface, data model, background processing, and third-party integrations. You'll own features end to end: schema design, API contracts, migrations, workers, and the deploy that ships them.

This is a hands-on role on a small team. You'll write most of the code you design, review other people's code, and have a real say in how the system evolves. If you like clean data models and hate mystery bugs in production, you'll fit.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Design and build REST APIs in FastAPI — clear contracts, sensible validation, proper error semantics
- Model and evolve the PostgreSQL schema; write and review Alembic migrations that run safely against live data
- Build and maintain async background jobs for long-running work (queues, retries, idempotency, failure handling)
- Integrate third-party APIs and webhooks, and handle the messy parts — timeouts, partial failures, replays
- Write tests that catch real regressions, not just ones that raise the coverage number
- Debug production issues using logs and metrics, and close the loop so the same issue doesn't recur
- Review PRs, push back where it matters, and help set the engineering conventions the team follows
- Work directly with product to scope features — including saying when something should be simpler

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR





- 3–4 years of skilled backend development in Python
- Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI — you understand async/await, dependency injection, and Pydantic models
- Solid PostgreSQL skills: schema design, indexing, joins, transactions, and reading a query plan when something is slow
- Practical experience with SQLAlchemy and Alembic — including migrations on tables that already have data in them
- Comfortable with Git, branching workflows, and code review as a normal part of the day
- Experience with background job processing (ARQ, Celery, RQ, or similar) and Redis
- You write clearly — commit messages, PR descriptions, and the occasional design note

GOOD TO HAVE

- AWS — EC2, S3, RDS, SES, CloudFront, IAM. Bonus if you've touched Terraform or any IaC
- React (Vite/TypeScript) — enough to wire up an endpoint end to end or unblock a frontend teammate
- CI/CD experience — GitHub Actions, Docker, automated deploys
- Experience integrating LLM or media-processing APIs (transcription, translation, batch inference)
- Nginx, TLS/certificates, and general "how does this actually get served" knowledge
- Observability: structured logging, CloudWatch, or equivalent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
