Purchase Executive (Sheet Metal)

About the Role:

SMT Auto Solutions LLP is looking for a dynamic and technically sound Purchase Executive with strong experience in the automotive sheet metal industry. The candidate should have hands-on expertise in sourcing, vendor development, cost negotiation, and procurement of sheet metal components and manufacturing processes such as stamping, laser cutting, welding, fabrication, and tooling. The ideal candidate should possess excellent commercial acumen, technical knowledge, and cost-saving skills to support business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

- Source and procure raw materials, sheet metal components, tooling, consumables, and engineering items.
- Develop and maintain a strong vendor base for sheet metal, laser cutting, stamping, welding, fabrication, machining, and tooling suppliers.

- Conduct effective price negotiations to achieve maximum cost savings without compromising quality or delivery.
- Prepare comparative statements, cost breakdowns, and commercial evaluations.
- Perform should-cost analysis and identify opportunities for annual cost reduction and value engineering.
- Calculate ROI and payback analysis for new sourcing proposals, tooling investments, and cost improvement projects.
- Monitor market trends, steel prices, raw material fluctuations, and supplier capacities.
- Ensure timely procurement to support uninterrupted production. • Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Tool Room, and Finance teams.
- Manage RFQs, purchase orders, supplier quotations, contracts, and commercial documentation.
- Track supplier performance based on Quality, Cost, Delivery (QCD),



responsiveness, and continuous improvement. • Lead vendor development activities and identify alternate sources for critical items. • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procurement procedures.

Technical Knowledge Required: The candidate must have strong knowledge of:

- Sheet Metal Stamping Processes
- Progressive & Compound Tooling
- Laser Cutting (2D & 3D)
- Robotic & Manual Welding
- Fabrication Processes
- Press Shop Manufacturing
- Tool Development & Tool Costing
- Steel Grades, Coil, CRCA, HR, GI and other automotive raw materials
- Manufacturing drawings and GD&T; basics
- BOM, ERP systems, and procurement planning

Desired Experience:

- 36 years of purchasing experience in the automotive sheet metal industry.
- Experience dealing with OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
- Exposure to procurement for stamping, laser cutting, welding, fabricated assemblies, and tooling.
- Experience handling high-value procurement and annual rate contracts.
- Strong vendor network within the automotive manufacturing sector.
