We are hiring for a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) role with a leading commercial bank in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The role will lead the bank’s independent risk management function and work closely with the Board of Supervisors and senior management to identify, assess, monitor and manage enterprise-wide risks.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and strengthen the bank’s Risk Management framework, policies and procedures.
- Establish risk measurement tools, rating systems and monitoring mechanisms.
- Define and monitor prudential limits and risk appetite.
- Manage and oversee Credit Risk, Market Risk, Liquidity Risk and Operational Risk.
- Monitor credit concentration, large exposures and distressed assets.
- Oversee NOSTRO, correspondent banking, forex and currency concentration risks.
- Conduct periodic operational and corporate governance risk assessments.
- Present clear and concise risk reports to the Board and senior management.




- Ensure risk practices are aligned with applicable regulations and international standards.

Ideal Candidate:

- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
- 8+ years of managerial experience in bank risk management or 12+ years of relevant experience in financial institutions.
- Strong understanding of Credit, Market, Operational and Liquidity Risk.
- Knowledge of Basel II, credit grading/rating models and risk exposure calculations.
- Understanding of investment risk and portfolio management.
- Robust analytical, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Professional certification such as FRM or another internationally accredited certification is preferred.

Relocation Requirement Candidates must be open to relocating to Kabul, Afghanistan.
