Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases (2016 and above) in both on-prem and Azure settings
Ensure database availability, performance, integrity, and security
Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, indexing, and patching
Monitor system health and performance, using tools such as SQL Server Profiler, DMVs, and third-party solutions
Manage and support disaster recovery and high availability solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping)
Develop and maintain documentation including data models, configurations, and processes
Troubleshoot database issues, performance bottlenecks, and T-SQL code
Migrate and modernize SQL Server workloads to Azure where appropriate
Utilize Azure offerings such as Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure Data Factory
Implement security best practices including encryption, auditing,
and RBAC (Role-Based Access Control)
Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or other scripting languages
Provide on-call support as needed for production incidents
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA
Solid knowledge of T-SQL, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
Experience with SQL Server versions 2016 and newer
Proficient in backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
Solid understanding of database security, roles, and permissions
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Database services, including:
Azure SQL Database
Azure SQL Managed Instance
Azure Data Factory
Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
Azure Backup & Restore strategies for databases
Experience with hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)
Familiarity with tools like SSMS, Azure Portal, and PowerShell
Preferred Qualifications:
