Sample Collection & Handling
Collect blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other biological specimens as per prescribed methods.
Label and document samples accurately to avoid mix-ups or errors.
Ensure secure handling, storage, and disposal of biological waste as per biomedical waste management guidelines.
Laboratory Testing & Reporting
Conduct routine and specialized tests
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
Record and verify test results, ensuring accuracy before reporting.
Communicate critical values immediately to the concerned physician or department.
Quality Control & Documentation
Perform daily quality control checks on reagents and instruments.
Maintain calibration logs, temperature records, and maintenance registers.
Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.
Safety & Compliance
Follow infection control practices and wear appropriate PPE.
Dispose of biohazardous material as per hospital and government guidelines.
Comply with NABH, NABL, and other regulatory standards (if applicable).
Coordination & Support
Coordinate with nursing, casualty, and ICU staff for urgent investigations.
Support doctors in patient sample interpretation when required.
Maintain stock of reagents, consumables, and notify shortages to the lab in-charge.
