Job Summary

The Senior Electrician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and supervision of all electrical systems and installations within the hospital. The role is responsible for ensuring secure, reliable and uninterrupted power supply, particularly to critical patient-care areas such as ICU, OT, Emergency, Cath Lab, Laboratory and other essential departments.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Electrical Maintenance

- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of all hospital electrical systems.
- Inspect, repair and maintain electrical wiring, switches, sockets, lights, DBs, MCBs, MCCBs, contactors and control panels.
- Monitor and maintain HT/LT panels, transformers, switchgear and electrical distribution systems.
- Identify electrical faults and complete troubleshooting with minimum downtime.
- Ensure proper earthing and electrical protection systems.

B. DG, UPS & Emergency Power

- Operate and monitor DG sets, UPS systems, batteries and emergency power systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply to ICU, OT, Emergency, Cath Lab, Laboratory, Radiology and other critical areas.
- Check AMF/ATS and automatic changeover systems regularly.
- Maintain emergency lighting and backup power systems.
- Respond immediately during power failures and electrical emergencies.

C. Preventive Maintenance

- Follow the approved preventive maintenance schedule.
- Conduct routine inspection of electrical panels, cables, equipment and installations.
- Maintain daily electrical inspection checklists and maintenance records.
- Identify potential electrical hazards and take corrective action.
- Recommend replacement of damaged or ageing electrical components.

D. Supervision

- Supervise and guide Junior Electricians, Electricians and Helpers.
- Allocate daily electrical maintenance work and monitor completion.
- Check staff attendance, discipline, PPE compliance and safe working practices.
- Verify the quality of completed electrical work.
- Coordinate with other Engineering & Maintenance team members.

E. Safety & Compliance

- Follow electrical safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)



practices.
- Ensure appropriate PPE is used during electrical work.
- Maintain electrical rooms, panels and work areas in a safe and clean condition.
- Immediately report major electrical faults, unsafe conditions and potential hazards to the reporting manager.
- Support hospital fire safety, disaster management and emergency preparedness activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical regulations and hospital safety requirements.

F. Hospital Coordination

- Attend electrical complaints received from all hospital departments promptly.
- Coordinate with Biomedical, HVAC, Plumbing, Civil, IT and other departments whenever electrical support is required.
- Minimize disruption to patient-care services while carrying out maintenance work.
- Coordinate with external contractors and authorized service providers for major electrical works and AMC activities.

G. Documentation & Records

- Maintain:
- Daily Electrical Complaint Register
- Preventive Maintenance Records
- Breakdown Maintenance Records
- DG Running Log
- UPS/Battery Inspection Records
- HT/LT Panel Inspection Records
- Electrical Shutdown Records
- Material Consumption Register
- Electrical Spare Inventory
- Maintenance Checklists
- Ensure records are updated accurately and available for internal, statutory and NABH-related inspections.

H. Energy Management

- Monitor electricity consumption and identify abnormal usage.
- Support energy conservation and cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure electrical equipment is operated efficiently.
- Report unusual power consumption or electrical load conditions to management.

3. Emergency Responsibilities

- Attend emergency electrical breakdowns immediately.




- Restore essential power supply to critical areas at the earliest possible time.
- Support emergency power changeover during EB failure.
- Remain available for emergency/on-call duties as required.
- Take necessary precautions to ensure patient and staff safety during electrical emergencies.

4. Qualifications

Mandatory:

- ITI in Electrician Trade or equivalent technical qualification.

Preferred:

- Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Valid Electrical Licence/B Licence/C Licence, as applicable.
- Hospital/Healthcare electrical maintenance experience.

5. Experience

- 5–8 years of relevant electrical maintenance experience.
- Minimum 2 years of hospital/healthcare experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience in HT/LT systems, DG sets, UPS, transformers and hospital electrical infrastructure is preferred.

6. Required Skills

- Strong electrical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Good knowledge of HT/LT electrical systems.
- Knowledge of DG, UPS, AMF/ATS and emergency power systems.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical safety and PPE requirements.
- Good supervisory and team-management skills.
- Ability to respond effectively during emergencies.
- Basic computer knowledge for maintenance documentation.

8. Working Conditions

- Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
- May be required to work on weekends and public holidays.
- Emergency/on-call duty may be required.
- Must be physically capable of carrying out electrical maintenance activities safely.
- Strict adherence to hospital safety and infection-control requirements while working in patient-care areas.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
