About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Chartered Accountant (CA) with robust knowledge of UAE accounting, taxation, and financial compliance to manage accounting operations and tax-related activities for UAE-based businesses.
The ideal candidate must have practical knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax, VAT, FTA compliance, financial reporting, bookkeeping, and UAE tax regulations. The candidate should be capable of independently handling accounting and taxation requirements while working remotely with management and stakeholders.
The UAE Corporate Tax regime applies to financial years beginning on or after 1 June 2023, and taxable persons have registration, record-keeping, filing, and payment obligations.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Management
- Manage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities for UAE-based entities.
- Maintain accurate general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Monitor cash flow, receivables, payables, expenses, and financial transactions.
- Assist management with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
UAE Corporate Tax
- Handle UAE Corporate Tax compliance and related accounting requirements.
- Determine Corporate Tax applicability and registration requirements for UAE entities.
- Prepare and support Corporate Tax calculations and returns.
- Review accounting profit and make appropriate tax adjustments to arrive at taxable income.
- Identify deductible and non-deductible expenses.
- Maintain documentation and records required for Corporate Tax compliance.
- Monitor Corporate Tax filing and payment deadlines.
- Stay updated on changes to UAE Corporate Tax laws, regulations, Cabinet Decisions, and Ministerial Decisions.
The UAE Corporate Tax calculation generally starts with accounting net profit/loss and requires adjustments for items specified under the Corporate Tax Law. Tax returns are generally due within 9 months from the end of the relevant Tax Period.
UAE VAT
- Manage UAE VAT compliance and reporting.
- Review sales and purchase transactions for correct VAT treatment.
- Prepare and file VAT returns through the relevant FTA processes.
- Perform VAT reconciliations.
- Monitor input and output VAT.
- Review VAT invoices and supporting documentation.
- Identify potential VAT compliance issues and advise management.
- Maintain appropriate VAT records and documentation.
- Monitor VAT filing and payment deadlines.
For VAT-registered businesses, UAE VAT returns and related payments are generally due within 28 days from the end of the applicable tax period.
FTA & Regulatory Compliance
- Manage tax-related interactions and compliance requirements with the UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA).
- Handle FTA registrations, amendments, and compliance activities where applicable.
- Support responses to FTA queries and requests for information.
- Assist with tax audits and assessments.
- Identify potential compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure statutory records and financial documentation are maintained properly.
Financial Reporting & Advisory
- Prepare management reports and financial analysis.
- Provide management with insights into financial performance, profitability, costs, and cash flow.
- Advise management on accounting and tax implications of business transactions.
- Support business decisions from an accounting and tax perspective.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and accounting processes.
Mandatory Skills & Knowledge
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
- 3+ years of relevant accounting/tax experience; UAE experience preferred.
- Strong practical knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax.
- Strong practical knowledge of UAE VAT.
- Knowledge of UAE FTA compliance and tax procedures.
- Understanding of UAE accounting and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong bookkeeping and financial reconciliation skills.
- Experience preparing financial statements and management reports.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working with UAE-based companies.
- Experience with UAE Free Zone and mainland entities.
- Experience handling FTA-related compliance.
- Experience with Corporate Tax registration and return preparation.
- Experience with VAT registration, return filing, and reconciliations.
- Experience dealing with external auditors, tax consultants, or FTA queries.
- Knowledge of accounting software such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero, Tally, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.
- Experience working with international transactions and cross-border accounting.
