Job Description – Purchase Executive

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Executive with strong knowledge of construction materials, procurement processes, vendor management, and price negotiation. The candidate should have 4–5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry and be capable of independently handling procurement requirements for multiple construction sites/projects.

Key Responsibilities

Handle end-to-end procurement of construction materials, consumables, tools, equipment, and other site requirements.

Obtain and compare quotations from multiple vendors and prepare comparative statements (CS).

Negotiate with suppliers for the best price, quality, credit terms, delivery schedule, and commercial conditions.

Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) as per approved requirements and company procedures.

Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Stores, Billing, Accounts, and Management for procurement requirements.

Ensure timely availability and delivery of materials at project sites to avoid work delays.

Develop and maintain a reliable vendor and supplier database.

Identify current vendors and conduct market research for better rates and alternative materials/suppliers.

Follow up with vendors for material dispatch, delivery, challans, invoices, test certificates, warranties, etc.

Verify material specifications, quantities, brands/makes, and commercial terms before placing orders.

Coordinate with the site/store team regarding material receipt, shortage, rejection, damage, and replacement.

Maintain proper procurement records including quotations, comparative statements, approvals, POs, delivery records, and vendor documents.

Coordinate with Accounts for vendor invoice verification and payment follow-up.





Monitor purchase costs and support management in achieving cost savings and procurement efficiency.

Handle urgent site procurement requirements without compromising company procedures and commercial controls.

Required Construction Material Knowledge

Candidate should have good practical knowledge of construction materials such as:

Cement, steel/TMT, sand and aggregates

RMC and concrete-related materials

AAC blocks, bricks and masonry materials

Waterproofing chemicals and construction chemicals

Tiles, marble, granite and flooring materials

Plumbing and sanitary materials

Electrical materials

Paints, putty and finishing materials

Gypsum, false ceiling and partition materials

Hardware, fasteners and consumables

Plywood, laminates and carpentry materials

Scaffolding and shuttering materials

Safety items/PPE

Power tools, hand tools and site equipment

Required Skills

4–5 years of purchase/procurement experience in the construction industry is mandatory.

Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, brands, and market rates.

Good vendor network and knowledge of the Mumbai/Maharashtra construction material market preferred.

Strong negotiation and commercial skills.

Experience in preparing RFQs, comparative statements and Purchase Orders.

Good knowledge of GST, invoices, delivery challans, payment terms and basic commercial documentation.

Ability to handle procurement requirements for multiple projects simultaneously.

Good follow-up and coordination skills.

Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office and ERP/Purchase Management Software.

Ability to work under deadlines and handle urgent site requirements.

Good communication and vendor-management skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be from a construction contracting, civil contracting, interior fit-out, infrastructure, or real estate construction company and should have hands-on experience in procurement of civil and finishing materials.

Immediate or short-notice joiners will be preferred.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
