The purpose of the EDI Automation QA Lead role is to ensure the quality, reliability, and stability of businesscritical EDI integrations by leading automationdriven testing and endtoend validation across applications, middleware, and EDI platforms.
This role is responsible for defining and driving the EDI automation strategy, validating complex EDI transactions, business rules, and data flows, and ensuring that integrations meet business, partner, and compliance requirements before release. The EDI Automation QA Lead acts as the quality owner for EDI initiatives, reducing production risk, preventing partner issues, and enabling confident and timely deliveries. The role also plays a key part in modernization and integration initiatives by ensuring quality is built in from the start and that automation scales with business growth.
Role & responsibilities:
- Review functional specifications, mapping documents, and transformation rules for EDI transactions (X12, EDIFACT, partner-specific formats).
- Own the overall quality strategy for EDI integrations across applications, middleware, and partners.
- Act as the single point of accountability for EDI quality outcomes.
- Define and enforce quality standards, processes, and best practices for EDI testing and automation.
- Design, build, and maintain robust automation frameworks for EDI validation, Application / UI validation, API and data validation
- Ensure automation covers endtoend flows
- Continuously improve automation stability, coverage, and execution efficiency.
- Define the test approach covering functional, integration, regression, negative, and automation testing.
- Ensure complete traceability between requirements, mappings, and test cases.
- Verify transformation logic and mapping accuracy according to partner specifications.
- Ensure clean and correct data exchange in all directions.
- Build and execute endtoend automated test suites covering application workflows, EDI integrations,
and data validations using tools like Playwright, Postman etc.
- Automate regression suites for repeated validation of mappings, APIs, and integration workflows.
- Generate EDI payloads for various scenarios (positive, negative, boundary, and large volume).
- Ensure compliance with partner mapping specifications, Functional Specifications (FS), and business rules.
- Perform database and SQL validations to verify data integrity and consistency.
- Create mock partner files to validate mapping behaviour.
- Set up test data in upstream and downstream systems for endtoend flow testing.
- Log defects with detailed payload samples, logs, transformation discrepancies, and screenshots.
- Retest fixes and verify regression impact across related transactions.
- Document test plans, test cases, test results, and automation scripts.
- Provide evidence for change control, deployment readiness, and QA sign-off.
- Provide clear and timely updates on testing progress, risks, delays, and dependencies.
- Participate in requirement walkthroughs, solution demos, and mapping review sessions.
- Own and enhance automation utilities, reusable components, and validation libraries.
- Ensure framework scalability to support new partners, document types, and integrations.
- Drive adoption of best practices in automation, testing, and quality engineering.
- Upskill the team on EDI standards, automation best practices, and integration testing.
Skill Set Required:
- Logistics and Freight forwarder, Supply Chain domain knowledge
- Knowledge of B2B/EDI Integration using any Integrator platform.
- Robust handson experience with EDI standards (X12, Edifact, XML, Json, Flat files)
- Strong SQL skills to query, validate, and analyze data from relational databases.
- Experience with Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum / SAFe) and tools such as Jira and SNOW.
- Strong expertise in automation testing frameworks, like Playwright / Selenium or equivalent
- Application & UI Testing Expertise
- API & Integration Testing
- Environment (DEV, QA, UAT, PROD like) & Tooling Knowledge
- Test Design & Quality Engineering.
Technologies Required:
- Hands on Exp with Playwright tool is mandatory
- Basic knowledge of EDI [X12, EDIFACT, XML & JSON]
- Axway B2Bi / Sentinel (preferred) or similar EDI integration tools
- Playwright automation framework hands-on experience and having knowledge of building automation framework.
Shift Work / Travel Required: General shift with overlap with US Time
Experience (Min ~ Max): 8-10 years of experience
Education Required: Bachlers Degree or equivalent; preferably in computer science or engineering
