The Accounts Assistant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with the preparation of financial reports. It is a detail-oriented role that requires solid organizational skills and a solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities1. Transactional Processing
- Accounts Payable: Processing supplier invoices, matching purchase orders, and preparing payment runs.
- Accounts Receivable: Issuing invoices to clients, tracking outstanding balances, and performing credit control (chasing overdue payments).
- Bank Reconciliation: Comparing the company’s cash records against bank statements to ensure all transactions are accounted for.
2. Financial Reporting & Documentation
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Processing employee expense claims and ensuring they align with company policy.
- Maintaining a digital and physical filing system for all financial records to ensure audit readiness.

- Assisting with VAT/GST returns and other tax-related filings.
- Updating internal accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or Xero) with daily entries.
- Handling inquiries from vendors or clients regarding payment status.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education:A degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce; or progress toward professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or CPA).
Technical Skills:Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and experience with accounting software.
Soft Skills:High attention to detail, robust numerical ability, and effective communication skills.
Experience:1-2 years of experience in a finance or administrative role is often preferred, though entry-level positions are common.
