Role Description
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Traffic Manager – Import Export & Fleet Operations who will take end-to-end ownership of daily transportation activities.
The candidate should have hands-on experience in container transportation, import/export cargo, factory stuffing and de-stuffing movements, factory-to-yard/port movements, local yard operations, driver management, and vehicle planning.
The Traffic Manager will be responsible for ensuring that vehicles, drivers, containers, and customer requirements are coordinated efficiently while maintaining high fleet utilization and timely execution.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and manage daily allocation of vehicles for import, export and local transportation movements.
Coordinate container movements between JNPT/Nhava Sheva, factories, warehouses, CFS/ICD locations and local yards.
Manage factory stuffing, de-stuffing, empty container movements and loaded container transportation.
Coordinate with customers, CHA teams, shipping line/CFS teams, factory personnel,
drivers and operational staff.
Prepare daily vehicle and driver deployment plans based on customer requirements.
Ensure maximum vehicle utilization while minimizing idle time, empty running and unnecessary detention.
Manage drivers including attendance, duty allocation, shift planning, leave management, replacements and operational discipline.
Monitor vehicles through GPS and real-time tracking systems and ensure timely reporting at loading/unloading locations.
Follow up on vehicle turnaround time, container availability, gate-in/gate-out, loading, unloading and delivery status.
Handle operational issues such as vehicle breakdowns, driver shortages, documentation delays, congestion and customer escalations.
Maintain daily trip sheets, vehicle movement records, driver records, detention details and operational MIS.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure required vehicles remain available for operations.
Monitor fuel/energy consumption and highlight abnormal vehicle performance.
Ensure drivers and vehicles comply with safety, statutory and customer requirements.
Support e-way bills, LR documentation and other transport-related documentation wherever required.
Maintain close coordination with OWS and other group operations for efficient utilization of available fleet.
Provide daily operational updates and highlight risks, delays and corrective actions to management.
Take complete ownership of assigned customer movements from vehicle placement until successful delivery and closure of the trip.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in transportation, container logistics, fleet operations or traffic management.
Robust experience in Import and Export container transportation is essential.
Experience in factory stuffing/de-stuffing, factory-to-port, factory-to-yard and local container movements.
Good knowledge of JNPT/Nhava Sheva, CFS, ICD, factory and yard transportation operations will be preferred.
Strong experience in driver management, vehicle allocation and daily fleet planning.
Ability to manage multiple vehicles, drivers and customer requirements simultaneously.
Working knowledge of GPS tracking, Excel, operational MIS and transport management systems.
Understanding of LR, e-way bill, container and transport documentation will be an advantage.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Ability to handle operational pressure and resolve issues independently.
Strong focus on safety, vehicle productivity, turnaround time and customer satisfaction.
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Business or equivalent experience preferred.

The successful candidate should be able to take ownership of the complete transport operation, proactively plan resources, manage drivers, communicate with customers, solve day-to-day problems and ensure that every committed movement is executed safely and on time.
