ABOUT THE ROLE
We're a growing MSME looking for a hands-on System Administrator to own our IT infrastructure end-to-end — from servers and networks to day-to-day employee tech support. This person will be our first responder on infra issues and independently own daily operations, escalating to leadership or vendors only when something is genuinely host-level or production-critical. Ideal for someone who likes wearing multiple hats and can work independently without narrow specialization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Infrastructure & Servers
- Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows/Linux), workstations, and networking equipment
- Manage on-prem infrastructure and virtualization (Proxmox/VMware/Hyper-V)
- Monitor performance, disk space, memory, and uptime; proactively fix bottlenecks
- Set up and maintain backups and disaster recovery
- Understand VM resource allocation (RAM ballooning, CPU steal time, dedicated vs. shared host resources) and diagnose host-level performance issues that surface inside the guest OS
Network & Security
- Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi access points
- Manage VPN access, firewall rules, and endpoint/antivirus protection
- Handle user access, permissions, and Active Directory accounts
- Ensure basic cybersecurity hygiene — patching, updates, vulnerability checks
IT Support & Operations
- Provide first- and second-line support (hardware, software, email, printers, connectivity)
- Manage IT procurement, inventory, and vendor relationships (ISPs, AMC vendors, suppliers)
- Maintain IT asset documentation and SOPs
- Handle employee onboarding/offboarding for systems and access
- Act as first responder on infra incidents; escalate to leadership or hosting/infra vendors when an issue is host-level or production-critical
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree/diploma in IT/CS or equivalent practical experience
- 2–5 years in system administration, IT support, or network management
- Working knowledge of Windows Server/Linux environments
- Hands-on experience with physical servers — installation, racking, RAID, hardware upgrades (RAM/storage/NIC) on Dell PowerEdge, HP ProLiant, or similar
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls)
- Experience with backups, antivirus/endpoint tools, and basic cybersecurity practices
- Independent troubleshooting across hardware, software, and connectivity
- Comfortable with process managers for Node.js apps (PM2 or similar) — monitoring, log triage, restart-loop diagnosis, zombie/defunct process cleanup
- Basic familiarity with database health monitoring (connection pools, slow queries, checkpointer/WAL behavior for Postgres or equivalent for MongoDB)
- Basic scripting (Bash/PowerShell) is a plus
- Good communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-technical staff
VALUABLE TO HAVE
- Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Indian providers like E2E Networks)
- Exposure to Nginx as a reverse proxy — timeout tuning, large file uploads, SSL config
- Certifications like CompTIA A+/Network+, MCSA, or CCNA (not mandatory)
WHAT WE OFFER
- End-to-end ownership of IT operations with real decision-making authority
- Direct exposure to leadership and cross-functional teams
- Competitive salary based on experience
