About BP BP is an early-stage fintech startup building a crypto wallet platform targeting consumers across the US and LATAM. We''re building secure, scalable, and compliant infrastructure to power digital wallets, payments, and crypto on/off-ramps for high net worth individuals.

Role Overview We''re looking for a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) to take technical ownership of critical backend systems powering our crypto wallet, transaction, payment, and financial infrastructure.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role . You''ll design and build highly reliable backend systems while driving architecture, scalability, security, and engineering best practices across the platform.

You''ll work on complex problems involving financial transactions, blockchain integrations, wallet infrastructure, distributed systems, and third-party fintech providers .

The ideal candidate is someone who can operate at both the architecture and implementation level , someone who can design a system, make the right technical trade-offs, guide other engineers, and still dive deep into the code when required.

What You''ll Do

- Own the architecture and technical direction of critical backend systems across wallet, ledger, transaction, payment, and crypto infrastructure
- Design, develop, and scale backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot
- Design and build highly reliable systems handling financial and blockchain transactions
- Design and implement integrations with blockchain networks, crypto infrastructure providers, custody platforms, payment providers, and fintech services
- Work on core wallet functionality including wallet creation, deposits, withdrawals, transaction processing, blockchain confirmations, and balance management
- Design systems around transactional integrity, idempotency, concurrency, consistency, and fault tolerance
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services
- Design asynchronous workflows for transaction processing and external provider integrations
- Build and optimize data models and queries across PostgreSQL and MongoDB
- Design systems capable of scaling reliably as transaction volume and user activity grow
- Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and scale production services on AWS
- Drive improvements in system performance, reliability, availability, observability, and operational efficiency




- Participate in and lead system design and architecture reviews
- Make architectural decisions and clearly communicate technical trade-offs
- Establish and promote engineering best practices around code quality, testing, security, observability, CI/CD, and production readiness
- Review code and provide technical guidance to backend engineers
- Mentor engineers and help raise the team''s technical capabilities
- Identify technical risks, scalability bottlenecks, and architectural gaps and proactively address them
- Debug and resolve complex production issues involving distributed systems, performance, financial transactions, and data integrity
- Work closely with Product, QA, Security, and DevOps to deliver reliable production systems
- Partner with engineering leadership to define the technical roadmap and evolve the backend architecture
- Contribute hands-on to implementation of critical and complex components when required

What We''re Looking For Must-Have

- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot in production environments
- Professional experience working with blockchain, cryptocurrency, or crypto/fintech infrastructure
- Hands-on experience building or working with crypto wallets, blockchain transactions, custody, crypto payments, exchanges, or crypto on/off-ramp systems
- Strong understanding of blockchain fundamentals, including:
- Wallets and addresses
- Blockchain transactions
- Transaction confirmations
- Gas/transaction fees
- Network-specific transaction lifecycle
- Blockchain deposits and withdrawals
- Experience integrating with blockchain networks, wallet infrastructure, custody providers, or crypto APIs/SDKs
- Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems architecture
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, transactions, indexing, query optimization, and data consistency
- Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures
- Practical experience deploying and operating production systems on AWS
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, fault tolerance, scalability, and high availability
- Strong understanding of idempotency and transactional integrity, especially for financial and blockchain transactions
- Experience designing and building systems handling financial transactions or other high-value transactional workloads
- Robust knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Experience providing technical leadership through architecture decisions, technical design, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering standards
- Ability to work effectively in an early-stage, fast-moving startup environment with high ownership

Good to Have

- Experience working with Ethereum, EVM-compatible chains, Solana, Bitcoin, or other major blockchain networks
- Experience with crypto infrastructure providers such as Fireblocks, Dynamic, Coinbase, Circle, Alchemy, Infura, or similar platforms
- Experience building wallet infrastructure, transaction processing systems, ledger systems, custody systems,



or crypto payment platforms
- Experience with Kafka, AWS SQS, RabbitMQ, or other messaging/streaming technologies
- Experience with Redis or other caching technologies
- Understanding of smart contracts and Web3 infrastructure
- Experience with blockchain node infrastructure or blockchain indexing
- Familiarity with KYC/AML, Travel Rule, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or other financial/crypto compliance requirements
- Experience with Kubernetes / Amazon EKS
- Experience with observability platforms, distributed tracing, metrics, and centralized logging
- Experience designing systems with strong security and reliability requirements
- Previous experience working in an early-stage fintech, payments, or crypto startup
