Develop, test, optimize and document essential-oil-based formulations, particularly roll-ons and other aromatherapy/personal-care products, while ensuring stability, safety, consistency and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
Develop recent essential oil and roll-on formulations.
Select and optimize essential oils, carrier oils, diluents, fixatives, antioxidants and other permitted ingredients.
Establish correct percentage/ratio of each ingredient for every formulation.
Conduct laboratory trials and prepare pilot batches.
Test appearance, odour, colour, viscosity, homogeneity and stability.
Conduct or coordinate stability testing and compatibility testing with packaging.
Prepare and maintain Master Formula Records (MFR) and Batch Manufacturing Records.
Establish specifications for raw materials and finished products.
Coordinate COA/product testing through suitable laboratories.
Maintain proper laboratory records and formulation history.
Investigate problems such as separation, leakage, odour changes, colour changes or batch-to-batch variation.
Assist in developing recent product variants and fragrance/aroma blends.
Evaluate raw-material suppliers and their COAs.
Ensure formulations comply with applicable Indian requirements for the intended product category.
Support production in scale-up from laboratory formulation to commercial batch.
Assist in determining appropriate shelf life and storage conditions.
Maintain confidentiality of formulations and company intellectual property.
Qualification
Preferred:
M.Sc. Chemistry / M.Sc. Industrial Chemistry / M.Sc. Organic Chemistry
B.Sc. Chemistry may be considered for a junior formulation role.
Diploma/degree in Cosmetic Science or related formulation field is an advantage.
