A godown (warehouse) staff member for loading and unloading is responsible for physically moving, lifting, and organizing goods safely and efficiently between delivery trucks and storage areas
Key Responsibilities
Loading and Unloading: Safely load outgoing goods onto trucks and unload incoming shipments by hand or using basic equipment.
Stock Organization: Arrange, stack, and sort items neatly on shelves, racks, or designated floor spaces by type or product code.
Inventory Check: Count and verify the quantity of items received or dispatched, reporting any damaged goods or shortages.
Equipment Handling: Use manual tools, hand trucks, trolleys, or pallet jacks where applicable.
Cleanliness and Safety: Keep the godown floors clean, free of hazards, and follow basic safety rules.
Job Requirements
Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy weights (often 20 to 50 kg or more) and stand or walk for long hours.
Basic Skills: Ability to count accurately and read shipping slips, labels, or tallies.
Reliability: Punctual, hardworking, and able to work well in a team with the godown keeper or supervisor.
