Job Title: IoT Project Manager
Department: Program / Product Management
Reports To: Head of Product / VP Engineering
Location: Baner, Pune (India)
Employment Type: Full time
Experience Level: 610 years, incl. IoT projects
About Us
We build a modular, industrial-grade environmental monitoring infrastructure that uses cutting edge technology with a full IoT and cloud stack, deployed at scale (1,000+ units) across construction sites, urban streets, and smart-city environments. We are looking for an IoT Software Developer to build and maintain the cloud-connected telemetry systems that power every device in the fleet — from the MQTT based communications with the on-board industrial controller through to the cloud data pipeline & robust backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Requirements Management
- Own the delivery plan for the program end-to-end: physical architecture, industrial controller/embedded software, IoT telemetry, cloud platform, and Application Front end.
- Translate the Engineering Requirements Specification into actionable workstreams, milestones, and acceptance criteria across hardware, embedded, and cloud teams.
- Track scope across the product variants and configurations, ensuring a shared core architecture is maintained while variant-specific requirements are met.
- Maintain the project schedule, budget, and risk register; report status to leadership and, where applicable, strategic/manufacturing partners.
Cross-Functional & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate hardware engineers, embedded developers, cloud/software teams, industrial designers,
and manufacturing partners to keep interdependent workstreams aligned.
- Own the interface between engineering and the cloud/API team to ensure fleet-management platform features (device onboarding, telemetry, RBAC roles, spare-parts logistics, API integrations) are delivered on schedule.
- Coordinate with certification/compliance stakeholders on cybersecurity requirements (TLS/mTLS, OTA signing, RBAC).
Deployment, Service & Scale Readiness
- Plan and oversee pilot deployments, capturing field feedback on installation, service workflows, and feeding it back into engineering.
- Support rollout of the service workflow (technician authentication, guided maintenance checklists, tool/spare-part tracking) in partnership with service and training teams.
- Drive readiness planning for scaling to 1,000+ connected devices: manufacturing capacity, spare-parts logistics, cloud/IoT infrastructure scalability, and fleet-management processes.
- Manage risk and issue resolution across project in coordination with engineering and QA.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6–10 years of project/program management experience, including delivery of connected hardware or IoT products (not purely software projects).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams spanning mechanical/structural, electrical,
embedded software, and cloud engineering.
- Working knowledge of IoT architectures (MQTT, cellular/4G connectivity, cloud telemetry platforms) sufficient to plan and de-risk technical dependencies without needing to write code.
- Experience managing external manufacturing, hardware, or component suppliers, including quality and delivery tracking.
- Strong stakeholder management and reporting skills, comfortable communicating with engineering teams, leadership, and external partners.
- Solid grasp of risk, schedule, and budget management tools and methods (Agile/Scrum, Waterfall/Stage-Gate, or hybrid approaches, as appropriate to hardware programs).
- Familiarity with reading and managing against a formal engineering requirements specification and translating it into team-level deliverables.
- Excellent communication skills – both written & verbal.
- Good grasp of MS Office tools like Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Background in industrial equipment, environmental/air-quality systems, HVAC, or infrastructure hardware programs.
- Experience planning for fleet-scale IoT rollouts (1,000+ devices) and associated cloud/infrastructure scalability considerations.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum certification.
- Experience with smart-city, municipal, or public-infrastructure stakeholders.
- Functional knowledge of German language
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Computer Science) or a related technical field; an MBA or PM certification is a plus.
