The Semiconductor Engineering Intern will work alongside experienced engineers on the design, development, verification, validation, or software enablement of advanced semiconductor products and technologies. The internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering challenges across areas such as processor/SoC design, digital design, verification, embedded software, performance analysis, and silicon validation.

Interns will contribute to active engineering projects while developing an understanding of semiconductor product development methodologies, tools, and processes.

You will work close to expert engineers who explain the detail, challenge your thinking and help you grow. You will build practical skills in SoC Design, development, verification, Validation, Bring-up & Characterisation, software, hardware or Physical Design checks.

You do not need to arrive as an authority. We are looking for Interns with strong fundamentals, curiosity and the aim to learn quickly.

The Team & Culture

Graphcore’s Silicon team turns high-reaching AI compute ideas into manufacturable silicon. Logical design, DFT, verification and physical design work closely with architecture,



operations and other engineering teams.

You will learn through design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions and practical problem solving. Work is broken into clear tasks, with support available and ownership expected from the start.

Decisions are made through evidence, engineering judgement and open challenge. Interns are encouraged to ask questions, speak up and build confidence by contributing early.

What we’re looking for

- On track for a degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related subject
- Technical skills in C, C++ or Python, TCL, shown through study, projects, hobbies, internships or work experience
- Interest in digital design, ASICs, verification, physical design, computer architecture or AI compute
- Motivation to learn modern silicon design techniques and industry-standard EDA tools
- Strong problem-solving skills, collaboration and transparent communication
- Curiosity, ownership and hunger to learn, not instant expertise

Typical responsibilities

- Contribute to real engineering projects
- Work with engineering teams on areas such as SoC Design, development, verification, Validation, Bring-up & Characterisation, software, hardware or Physical Design.
- Develop, test, debug, or validate engineering solutions.
- Build tools/workflows or automation that improve engineering productivity.
- Analyse technical problems and communicate findings to the team.
- Collaborate with engineers across teams and locations.
- Learn Design, Verification, Validation, architectures, development methodologies, and relevant engineering tools.
