Role & responsibilities An ICU Staff Nurse provides specialized, round-the-clock critical care, continuous monitoring, and emergency intervention for unstable patients in an intensive care unit
- Patient Monitoring: Conduct hourly head-to-toe physical assessments, track vital signs, and monitor advanced equipment like ventilators, arterial lines, and cardiac monitors.
- Medication & Treatment: Administer high-risk intravenous medications, manage fluid balance, and adjust drips or dosages based on real-time changes in patient status.
- Emergency Response: Initiate life-saving measures during medical crises, including assisting with intubation, resuscitation, and following ACLS/BLS protocols.
- Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and provide regular,
compassionate updates to patient families.
- Documentation: Maintain precise, up-to-date electronic health records regarding patient progress, interventions, and lab results.
Preferred candidate profile
- Education: Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing).
- Registration: Valid UPSMF state nursing council registration or qualified license.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Experience: Prior clinical experience in a hospital setting or specialized critical care unit is strongly preferred.
