The Company Our client is a established Myanmar-based group with a growing portfolio of strategic investments and operating businesses. As part of its continued expansion, the Group is seeking an experienced General Manager – Coal Mining Operations to provide overall leadership for its mining operations in Myanmar.

The Position

Reporting to senior Group leadership, the General Manager will take full responsibility for the protected, efficient and commercially sustainable operation of the coal mining business . The role will oversee mine planning and production, extraction activities, equipment and fleet utilization, maintenance coordination, contractor management, manpower planning, coal quality, operating costs and achievement of production targets.

The GM will establish strong operating systems and performance standards across the mine, drive productivity and cost optimization, and ensure effective coordination between mining, engineering, maintenance, HSE and logistics teams. A major focus will be on operational discipline, equipment availability, production reliability,



safety and continuous improvement .

The position will also work closely with Group management on annual operating plans, CAPEX requirements, budgets, production forecasts and the longer-term development of the mining operation.

The Person

We are looking for a senior mining professional with approximately 15+ years of experience , including substantial leadership responsibility within coal mining operations . Candidates should have strong hands-on experience managing mine production, planning, heavy mining equipment, contractors, maintenance interfaces, HSE and operational cost performance.

A degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Mineral Engineering or a related discipline is preferred. Experience leading sizeable coal mining operations, particularly surface/open-pit mining , would be highly advantageous.

Candidates should demonstrate strong operational leadership, the ability to manage multicultural teams and contractors, and a track record of improving production, safety, equipment utilization and cost efficiency .
