Role & responsibilities
Teaching & Academics
- Plan and deliver English lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum, NCERT guidelines and school academic plan.
- Develop students' reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, communication and literary-analysis skills.
- Teach prose, poetry, drama and other prescribed texts in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
- Encourage critical thinking, interpretation, discussion and confident expression.
- Prepare students for school assessments and CBSE Board Examinations.
- Provide remedial or enrichment support based on student needs.
- Maintain effective classroom management and high standards of learning and behaviour.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Prepare tests, worksheets, assignments, question papers and assessment material.
- Evaluate written and oral work and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Use assessment data to identify learning gaps and improve student performance.
- Maintain accurate academic records, marks and report cards.
- Communicate student progress and concerns effectively during PTMs.
Language & Communication Development
- Build students' confidence in spoken and written English.
- Support improvement in pronunciation, presentation, public speaking and communication skills.
- Encourage independent reading and appreciation of literature through age-appropriate texts and activities.
- Guide students in structured, creative and analytical writing.
School Responsibilities
- Attend assemblies, staff meetings, departmental meetings and professional-development programmes.
- Perform examination, invigilation, evaluation and result-related duties.
- Participate in PTMs,
school events, annual functions, competitions, trips and celebrations.
- Support House activities, literary clubs, debates, elocution, creative writing, quizzes and other co-curricular programmes.
- Undertake substitution classes, student supervision and class-teacher or mentoring responsibilities when assigned.
- Maintain lesson plans, registers and required school documentation.
- Support school publications, assemblies, scripts, newsletters or other English-related initiatives when required.
- Support school initiatives and admissions-related academic interactions when required.
- Follow school policies on discipline, safeguarding, child protection and professional conduct.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
Preferred candidate profile
Essential
- B.Ed. or recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Good understanding of the CBSE/NCERT curriculum.
- Effective classroom management, communication and student-engagement skills.
- Strong ability to teach grammar, writing, comprehension and literature.
- Comfortable using educational technology and digital teaching tools.
- Professional, organised, cooperative and student-focused.
Preferred
- Previous English teaching experience in a CBSE school.
- Experience teaching secondary and/or senior-secondary classes.
- Experience preparing students for CBSE Board Examinations.
- Familiarity with competency-based assessment and CBSE question patterns.
- Experience with debates, public speaking, creative writing, literary events or school publications
